What Mike Leach Said That Made Him Everyone's New Favorite Coach
Mike Leach is officially the best coach in sports today!
Over the weekend he watched his star wide receiver Michael Crabtree fall all the way to the 10th pick, which San Francisco owned.
According to several sources he fell in the draft because Browns head coach Eric Mangini and the organization didn't like his attitude when he visited the team prior to the draft. The Browns had the fifth overall pick but ended up trading down.
But the Browns don't know who they're messing with...Mike Leach was all over them like Charles Barkley on a doughnut.
"Michael Crabtree has been more successful as a receiver than that guy as a coach at this point," Leach said of Mangini, according to media reports of a conference call. "Part of the reason is [Crabtree's] too shy to be like that."
Leach said Crabtree isn't a "diva."
"My definition of a diva is someone who's loud and self-absorbed," Leach told reporters. "Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I've seen...Let's see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."
How do you like them apples Cleveland?
Not only did he say it was a mistake for Cleveland not to draft him, but he called out Mangini's coaching career. I love that he didn't even address Mangini by name. Then he takes it a step further and calls out all of the Browns' non-divas.
You've got to love this, a coach going to war for his players. Actually, they aren't even his players anymore. What you have to love even more is that he didn't do it the politically correct way, he went right after the Browns.
Leach wasn't done just yet though.
Graham Harrell went undrafted over the weekend as Stephen McGee (QB) of Texas A&M, who didn't start much his senior year, was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys in the 4th round.
Big mistake NFL, now you must feel the wrath of Mike Leach.
"I'm happy for Stephen McGee," Leach told The Dallas Morning News. "The Dallas Cowboys like him more than his coaches at A&M did."
Ouch! Another double shot insult. I little jab at McGee and a big right hook across the Cowboys chin!
Leach would go on to say that the NFL drafts quarterbacks notoriously bad.
So what have we learned ladies and gentlemen?
Don't mess with Mike Leach, he's the man.
