It Don't Matter If Your Black Or White: MVP To Be a World Champion?

Joe Burgett Apr 28, 2009

While watching WWE RAW last night, I saw one man emerge even more so than he already was. He name is MVP. He went out to confront new WWE Champion Randy Orton while he was gloating over his win.

He claimed that he was the man in charge so to speak and everyone had to answer to him. United States Champion MVP took exception to this and said he answers to no one, including Orton.

Orton disliked the comments MVP had to say and took him on later in the evening. MVP really showed up to fight as he took it to the WWE Champion. The match was ended early as Shane McMahon attacked Orton during the match.

The bell never rang though, something to keep in mind. No winner was ever announced, so that would mean the match was thrown out. Orton didn't win nor did MVP. Which would mean MVP could not have a win over Orton to use for a World Title shot for now.

However Orton has never beaten MVP, so that would mean MVP does have a case to have a shot against him.

He seemed to have the crowd behind him the whole time and that is what the WWE wanted I'm sure. I feel as if this was a test done by the WWE to see how the crown would react to seeing MVP in a title match against Orton in the future.

The experiment seemed to be in MVP's favor because of the fact the crowd seemed to love it. I know I had a smile on my face when I saw MVP confront Orton and then do well against him in the match they had later in the show.

MVP seems to be getting a good push by the WWE, one that could get him to a Jeff Hardy-like push to a World Title. He got a huge pop LIVE on RAW this week and Hardy started getting those big time pops in about late 2007.

By the end of 2008 he was WWE Champion. It lasted a small amount of time, but he still won it.

MVP could be a World Champion by 2010 if the Hardy formula s one the WWE wants for MVP.

Now Hardy did have some out of the ring issues, but so has MVP. So I would think they would do the same thing with MVP as they did Hardy.

For a while one question has been on the minds of African American fans, when will they see another African American World Champion. Booker T was the last for the WWE, and he was World Heavyweight Champion.

The Rock was the last for the WWE Championship, however many do not consider him much of an African American. However he is half Samoan, half African American I believe.

MVP would legitimize that African American role in a white dominated world if he were to win a World Title. There has been many African Americans in the WWE. Some good but some bad.

The problem has been that no Legit African American since Booker T has been able to combine wrestling ability with mic skills and marketability.

MVP in my mind has that, so he would be the number one candidate to win one in my mind.

He has athleticism, wrestling ability, mic skills, marketability, and the crowd loves him.

With that said who is to say he is not the best take the African American role in the WWE to the top where it should be?

The Miz raised a good point last night on RAW before his Cena call out, we are tired of seeing the same guys in the main event week after week, why not someone else?

MVP is a new face in the main event picture, and fans love that because it is someone new to see there and take on the top guys in the company.

How many times are we going to see Cena, Batista, Triple H, Jericho, Edge, and Orton in the main event? We need to meat so to speak.

MVP is the best fit, and could easily be the face of a brand in the WWE. If they can give World Titles to guys like Jeff Hardy for 1 month, I am sure they can give one to MVP who could lead the new generation not just African Americans into the future of the WWE.

He is young, which means he will be around for a while. He has no injury history, his out of the ring issues seem to be behind him, and that means there is no reason to not give the Ballin' Superstar a World Title shot.

He can only win secondary titles like the US or IC Titles for so long until you have to give him a World Title. His fans will be knocking down WWE doors to see it.

He has paid his dues and proven he can handle the schedule, matches, and other things the WWE throws at him.

He has proven he can handle any role, heel or face in the WWE.

He has proven he can be a good champion and good in singles action. He has also proven to be good in storylines, so there is no reason in my eyes that MVP can not be a World Champion in the WWE.

The WWE needs to realize this sooner rather than later.
