Alex Tyus Not Transferring After All
I have been quietly optimistic the last several days, as Billy Donovan was throwing around his extra schollies to guards left and right. I sort of thought he might have some insight as to the rumors that were being reported by Kevin Brockway in the Gainesville Sun.
As my buddy Gorman said, "Who does he [Tyus] think he is, Billy Donovan?"
If you've been following it like me, you'd have seen this blog last Friday, which first indicated Tyus might be reconsidering.
Yesterday, word came that Tyus did not want to comment on a possible return.
This morning, the news broke, from Mr. Brockway via an "athletic department source" that Tyus will be back for next season.
If you're a regular reader of my basketball opinion, you'll know I think Tyus is a fine player, but I wasn't entirely down in the dumps just because he left. This news is more exciting, as I've extensively made the point about Billy Donovan's success when players stick around.
I also think his return makes it more likely Calathes comes back, which would be a huge deal, indeed.
What do you guys think of all this? Are you angry at Tyus, shocked by the news? How does it effect our outlook next season?
Stay tuned to gatorsfirst.com, as the whole story comes out we will be here to give you the analysis.
