Top Ring Of Honor Wrestlers Who Should Be In WWE Or TNA

Joe Burgett Apr 27, 2009

For around 10 years the Ring of Honor has been in the wrestling world and taken it by storm. They have not been mainstream like the WWE and TNA, however they have produced wrestlers that are making a big name for themselves in TNA and WWE.

Guys like CM Punk and Samoa Joe, both former ROH World Champions have split apart and one went to the WWE and became World Heavyweight Champion and the other went to TNA became TNA World Champion.

Two examples of wrestlers who are doing well in the wrestling world and both came from ROH. Of course countless others walked through the Ring of Honor doors and became successful too.

We have not had the pleasure to see many ROH matches on TV, mainly because they have not had a TV deal. They were on DVD and what not, but that was really the only way to see them other than going to a ROH event itself.

Now that they are on HDNet every Saturday at 8/7c they are now starting to get known by many who were not familiar with them. Which is good for them because that is of course more exposure.

What ROH lacks is storylines, they have matches and the two main eventers being interviewed every week, other than that there is nothing there storyline wise. While I love the wrestling they are putting out, they just seem to lack there more than anything.

We keep hearing about all of these rivalries, but nothing is done with them. Just seeing the wrestling side may not be so great. Have backstage attacks, at least something. We finally saw someone come out and talk in the ring in Nigel McGuiness this past week, but he is the only one who has since they have been on HDNet.

They need to develop character wise to me. They have good wrestling, and they play heel and face roles well. But they have to make us really hate or like a person, and so far they have not done that for me.

But in what I have seen there are a few I think have potential and can leave the ROH world to go to a bigger market like the WWE and TNA Wrestling.

The first is Nigel McGuiness.

The dude can wrestle better than many in TNA and the WWE today, the fact he has not left is amazing to me. Especially since he just lost the ROH World Title. Until he lost it to Jerry Lynn, he had held it since October of 2007.

A close to 2 year reign if you can believe it. Which makes to think, can he have the same success anywhere else? I think he can.

I have been watching him for some time, and I can tell you from seeing him before he was on HDNet and now I think he is probably one of the best in the world today.

He has many good wrestling moves, and is an overall terrific wrestler in the ring. He is not to shabby on the mic either and that being said he could transition to a place like the WWE or TNA easily.

Brian Danielson

He claims to be the best wrestler in the world, and that is not to far from the truth. He is amazing in the ring technically. He reminds me of Ric Flair a bit as he is a great submissionist.

Now he is ok on the mic, but that can be developed. He can wrestle with anyone, if they are a high flyer, ground and pound, or whatever, he can hang with them.

He is like a  chameleon in the ring, as he could wrestle anyone and seem like he is the best. Which makes one think that he is the best in the world. When watching him you see him take on just about anyone.

He can take down the big man, and ground the high flyer. So that means a transition to a place like the WWE or TNA would be an easy one for him.

Austin Aries

Aries may be one guy who you could relate to CM Punk, he has a great image as he is just one guy you hate without him having to say anything. You look at him as he walks or wrestles and he looks to arrogant and cocky.

Punk had a similar image when in ROH as a heel, and I feel Aries is just the same. He is pretty sound technically, and could wrestle just about anyone like Danielson.

He may need to get rid of the mustache though as it is kind of weird.

He is not half bad on the mic either as I have seen him talk a bit and he can really make you not like him. I did not have to hear him talk to not like him, just see him wrestle. But he added to the image very well, and I feel that could really be beneficial when he goes to TNA or the WWE.

Jimmy Jacobs

Jacobs may be the one who should leave before anyone else, but may have a difficult time doing so. He is the head of the Age of the Fall, kind of his idea of taking down ROH and making it his own in a way.

He has a good image which would make him marketable. He seems to be a guy people would want to see and he is a very popular figure there in ROH. He is considered to be the top heel there behind McGuiness. But many say he is the best heel there.

Which you cannot argue to much about, depends on who you like best in the end. Jacobs not only has that going for them, but he also can wrestle pretty well.

He is good on the mic as well, and seems like the best fit to leave for TNA or WWE. I feel he is one of the guys WWE and TNA should be trying to get right now, as he has the biggest upside of anyone.

He seems like a guy who can fit into a storyline, as he is kind of the only one in one right now in ROH. At least the best one. I don't think he would have any trouble transitioning to the WWE or TNA.

He is just one of those guys who is destined for greater things outside of ROH, and I feel he could get that if he were to leave sooner rather than later.

Of course, there are many other great wrestlers in ROH currently who I think could do well outside of the promotion and in WWE or TNA. But the four I mentioned are the best fit to go right now.

There are some that need to stay put for now, as they are not ready to leave right now. But could be able to within a year or so.
