Memphis Grizzlies Taunt Blake Griffin on Official Instagram Account

Jesse DorseyJun 8, 2018

With two hard-fought playoff series in two years, it seems that we've got a legitimate rivalry on our hands between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis using their Instagram account to give a parting taunt to the Clippers.

Grizzlies fans got to chanting "Whoop that Clip" throughout the series-clinching Game 6, a game that ended up with a player on each team picking up an ejection and countless whistles signaling free throws.

Memphis and Los Angeles first met in the playoffs last season, the Clippers coming out on top after a long, physical seven-game series between two young, promising teams.

When the two were matched up as the fourth and fifth seed yet again this season, we knew that there was another gritty, muddy series upcoming.

While it didn't last all seven games as it did the year before, there was every little bit of physical play that you would have expected, and then some.

The series included 20 technical fouls, two flagrant fouls and an average of 51 fouls called in each game. Scoring was made more difficult and the Grizzlies' style of mud-ball was enough to keep the Clippers from sprinting through the muck without sinking.

As a parting shot and a thumb of their noses back at their fallen foes, Memphis posted a picture of Blake Griffin getting swarmed by Zach Randolph, Quincy Pondexter and Marc Gasol in the paint as he clutches to the ball for dear life.

It was an acknowledgement that they were moving on and the Clippers weren't, but most of all it was an acknowledgement of a matchup that has gone from being a budding rivalry, to a full-blown air of hatred between the two teams.
