Browns Land Productive Georgia Receiver with 50th Pick

Jocks TalkApr 27, 2009

(4/26/2009 Oakland, CA. by Akeem Brown, JocksTalk.com staff writer) Massaquoi had already watched four of his teammates be selected, and then with the 50Th overall pick, the Cleveland Browns grabbed the former University of Georgia WR.

He will add much needed depth to a team who has already traded TE Kallen Winslow, and with rumors of a Braylon Edwards trade to the, NY Giants. For now the Edwards trade has yet to transpire. Massaquoi had a private workout with the Browns earlier this week, which inevitably led to him being drafted 50Th overall.

He finished his collegiate career with 158 catches for 2,282 yards and 16 touchdowns, which ranks fourth best in school history. Massaquoi had a strong Senior season with career-highs in catches (58), yards (920), and touchdowns (8).

His longest reception came in his Junior season against Florida, hauling in an 84-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford, who was selected first overall by Detroit, in this years NFL draft.

What the Browns get out of Massaquoi, is a T.O. bodied WR with soft hands, great speed and most importantly an excellent rout runner. Massaquoi embodies hard work and that characteristic will aide him in his transition to the professional ranks.

Off the field they have landed a true humanitarian, who will be a fixture in the Cleveland community for years to come. After the NFL Mohammed has already stated he wants to be the University of Georgia Athletic Director.
