The commitment from defensive back Daquan Worley isn't shocking, but it's always nice to hear the announcement out of the young man's mouth. According to Josh Moyer of ESPN, Worley has picked the Nittany Lions over other top choices such as Georgia Tech and Rutgers.

Worley is considered a 3-star cornerback and running back by 247Sports.

At 5'11", 170 pounds, he certainly has to hit the weights hard before he makes the trip to Happy Valley, but small or not, this is a commitment that Penn State is happy to have.

The Nittany Lions now have seven verbal commitments for the 2014 class and Worley is the first defensive back. In fact, besides linebacker Troy Reeder, Worley is the only other pure defensive player in this year's class to commit to Penn State.

Worley made an unofficial trip to Penn State on April 12 and received an offer that same day.

According to the report, Worley was planning on making his decision earlier this week, but his high school coach, Matt Ortega of Coatesville High School in Pennsylvania, advised him to wait a few more days.

The togetherness of the coaching staff and the way everybody stuck through tough times played a big role in this commitment. As Worley told Moyer, more of a family atmosphere is what he was looking for, and he saw it when checking out Penn State.

"Everything they've been through, they stick together," Worley said shortly after receiving a PSU offer last month. "That's what I look for, and that's what I thought about a lot with Penn State."

The talented recruit has the ability to play on offense, but will likely stick to his more natural position at defensive back. His ball skills and playmaking ability will bode well for a Nittany Lions defense that lost a lot of talent last year.
