2013 NFL Draft Results: Breaking Down Teams with Deepest Classes

You know which players are elite. You've heard about the biggest reaches in this draft ad nauseam at this point. You know which teams filled needs, which teams got solid value and that Jerry Jones once again proved he should hire a general manager.

But which teams had the deepest draft classes this year? Which teams consistently found value from the first to seventh rounds?

Let's find out.

San Francisco 49ers

The rich just keep getting richer.

Safety Eric Reid may have been a slight reach in the first round, but filling the position was the team's biggest need. Tank Carradine will be a dynamic pass-rusher in the league and was great value in the second round. Vance McDonald should slot in as Delanie Walker's replacement. 

Defensive end Corey Lemonier was a solid addition in the third round, while Quinton Patton and Marcus Lattimore could end up being two of the biggest steals in this draft in the fourth round. 

In a deep draft, the Niners played their cards just right and solidified a roster that was already one of the strongest in the league. Well done, San Fran.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Chip Kelly era, at least at the draft, began with athletically gifted left tackle Lane Johnson. He will likely start his career playing on the right side. The Eagles then went with the player they believed to be the top player on the board in the second round, tight end Zach Ertz, a versatile player who should also give the team an excellent option in the red zone.

The team bolstered the defensive line in the third round with LSU's Bennie Logan before opening the fourth round with one of the most surprising selections of the draft, nabbing USC quarterback Matt Barkley. Who saw that one coming?

But where the Eagles may have gotten the best value was in the seventh round. Two prospects who were expected to go much higher, defensive end Joe Kruger and cornerback Jordan Poyer, may compete for starting jobs in the future. 

Kelly focused on athletic, scheme-versatile players and got them throughout the draft. I think this draft will be a very strong building block for the Eagles.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals made strong, safe picks throughout the draft. Well, except for one controversial third-rounder, but we'll get to him.

Guard Jonathan Cooper will be an instant starter and Pro Bowler for years to come. Linebacker Kevin Minter should start immediately as well. Defensive end Alex Okafor was a steal in the fourth round, as was guard Earl Watford.

Selecting running back Stepfan Taylor (fifth round) and wide receiver Ryan Swope (sixth round) could end up being two of the most underrated offensive moves in this draft. Andre Ellington is an interesting gamble in the sixth round as well.

The only pick I didn't really understand was Tyrann Mathieu, since I think a lot of his value is tied up to his ability in the return game and the Cardinals already have Patrick Peterson. But there's no doubting that the kid has talent and is a playmaker, character issues aside.

From top to bottom, this was an excellent draft.
