Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Latest on Radamel Falcao Speculation

Radamel Falcao has been repeatedly linked to Chelsea throughout the last few seasons.

Falcao's goal-scoring record since putting his foot on European soil has been tremendous, and that's continued again this season.

The Colombian striker is hot property, and Chelsea is one of the few clubs with the finances to make a big-money move for his services.

Here's the latest transfer speculation concerning Falcao and a move to Chelsea.

April 23: Chelsea Believe They Are Winning the Race to Sign Radamel Falcao

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea decided to focus on signing Radamel Falcao in late April. After ongoing talks with his representatives, the Blues reportedly believed a deal could be close.

The article states that the club is set to offer £46 million for the Colombian striker, and offer to pay him £200,000 per week.

With Roman Abramovich's backing, Chelsea certainly has the wealth to finance such a deal.

According to the Mail, Chelsea have halted their pursuit of Edinson Cavani and Andre Schurrle in order to focus on Falcao. 

April 25: Fernando Torres Would Welcome Radamel Falcao

Despite the likelihood that Radamel Falcao would replace him as Chelsea's top forward, Fernando Torres has said he would welcome the Colombian's arrival (via ESPN UK).

The Spanish forward has been short of form since his big move to Chelsea a few seasons ago, and it is highly likely that Falcao would take his place in the starting lineup.

With Romelu Lukaku coming back to the club from a fantastic season on loan with West Bromwich Albion, Chelsea will have some decisions to make regarding their forward line.

If Falcao joins, Torres may not find himself in a Chelsea shirt much longer.

May 1: Radamel Falcao and Jose Mourinho to Join Chelsea

Wayne Veysey of Goal.com reports that the Blues have agreed to bring both Radamel Falcao and Jose Mourinho to the club this summer.

The Portuguese manager was instrumental in raising the club's profile and fattening its trophy cabinets a few seasons ago, and has long been linked with a return.

The Blues are reportedly set to match Falcao's £50.8 million release clause in order to finalize a signing. 

They are also hoping to sweeten the deal by allowing Thibaut Courtois to prolong his loan spell with the Spanish club.
