It was another action-packed weekend for Americans playing abroad as Jozy Altidore scored two goals and picked up an assist, Alejandro Bedoya scored yet another goal and Fabian Johnson tallied an assist in Hoffenheim’s relegation fight.

Check out all those goals as well as news on all of the Americans involved in relegation and promotion fights in this week’s edition of the Americans Abroad Wrap.

1 of 4

Clint Dempsey and Tottenham Hotspur picked up a point coming from behind to tie Wigan 2-2, with Dempsey going the full 90 minutes. The tie leaves Spurs two points behind Arsenal for the final Champions League place. Brad Friedel did not play in the match.

Stoke picked up a vital three points with their 1-0 win over Norwich. The win gives Stoke 40 points on the season and most likely secures their safety. Geoff Cameron came on as a 62nd-minute substitute in the match; Brek Shea did not make the 18. Cameron missed his sister’s wedding to play in the match.

Stuart Holden came on as a 90th-minute substitute in Bolton’s 1-1 draw with Cardiff City. The point leaves the Wanderers clinging to the last spot in the English Championship’s promotion playoffs with one game to go. Holden was recalled last week from his loan stint with Sheffield Wednesday for Bolton’s final playoff push. Tim Ream did not play for the Wanderers.

Brad Guzan, Eric Lichaj and Aston Villa play Sunderland tomorrow. Currently, Villa sit two points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play.

Tim Howard and Everton beat Fulham 1-0 to keep their faint Champions League hopes alive. The game-winning goal for Everton came via Steven Pienaar in the 16th minute of play.

Jonathan Spector and Will Packwood are both recovering from injuries and were not part of Birmingham’s 3-1 loss to Ipswich.

Ze Germans: Fabian Johnson Gets an Assist

2 of 4

Timmy Chandler and Fabian Johnson faced off against one another as Hoffenheim beat Nurnberg 2-1. Johnson got the assist on Hoffenheim’s first goal while playing as a left midfielder. Both players went 90 minutes. Danny Williams was not in the squad for Hoffenheim, who sit three points from safety with three games to go.

Jermaine Jones played 81 minutes in Schalke’s 4-1 win over Hamburger SV. Schalke currently sit in the last qualifying spot for the Champions League and will have to fight off challenges from several teams over their last three games to maintain that spot.

Augsburg beat Stuttgart 3-0 but still sit in the relegation zone on goal differential. Michael Parkhurst was not in the 18 for Augsburg.

Hannover beat Greuther Furth 3-2, but Steve Cherundolo did not play.

In Bundesliga 2, Hertha Berlin beat St. Pauli 3-2 with John Anthony Brooks and Alfredo Morales both going the distance for Hertha. Joe Gyau came on as a 72nd-minute substitute for St. Pauli.

Bobby Wood played the last nine minutes of Munich 1860’s 1-1 tie with Cologne.

3 of 4

Jozy Altidore and AZ Alkmaar beat Heerenveen 4-0 with Altidore racking up two goals and an assist. On his first effort, Altidore followed up his own blocked shot and headed it in. On his second goal, Altidore hit a beautiful free-kick over the wall and into the upper 90. Even Altidore’s assist was nice, as it came on a nifty backheel.

Altidore now has 30 goals in all competitions this season. Video of Altidore's first goal can be seen here. Video of his assist can be seen here.

Alejandro Bedoya scored in Helsingborg’s 5-1 win over Gelfe. This was Bedoya’s sixth goal in the last 14 games for Helsingborg. Video of his goal can be seen here.

Terrence Boyd and Rapid Vien lost to Salzburg 3-1. Boyd played the last 21 minutes of the game.

Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht lost 2-1 to Club Bruges. Kljestan went the distance.

Mix Diskerud and Rosenborg lost 1-0 to Sandnes. Diskerud played the first 63 minutes. It was reported this week that Norway is still attempting to convince Diskerud to play for Norway.
