NFL Draft 2013 Results: Day 3 Steals Who Will Make a Big Impact at Next Level

There are seven rounds in the NFL draft, and everyone is important to impact the future of the league.

The opening day gets the most attention with high-profile players getting large contracts. However, there are always guys selected in the later rounds that make huge impacts down the line.

Tom Brady is the gold standard for these players after being selected in the sixth round of the 2000 draft, although every year there are prospects who shine after slipping through the cracks in the opening rounds. 

This year was no different, and these Day 3 selections are more than capable of being big-time players in the NFL. 

Alex Okafor, DE, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona had a solid 38 sacks as a team last season, but you can never have enough pass-rushers. This is why the team drafted Alex Okafor with pick No. 103.

The former Texas player has very good size with enough technique to get into the backfield consistently against the pass. When he does not officially register a sack, he is still a disruption for opposing quarterback.

He fell past the first couple of days due to his struggles against the run, but the Cardinals have enough depth at the position to use him exclusively on passing downs until he becomes more of a complete player.

In a division full of great defenses, Okafor will make a big difference for Arizona quickly in his career.

Khaseem Greene, OLB, Chicago Bears

It is tough to evaluate linebackers in the draft process. Smaller players who survive on speed and instincts often get left behind as teams fall in love with the bigger and stronger players.

Those teams will regret passing on Khaseem Greene.

The former safety is not only excellent in coverage, but he has enough quickness to cover the entire field against the run from sideline to sideline.

He can be similar to Lavonte David at the next level, last year's second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who totaled 139 tackles in his rookie season. 

With the No. 117 pick, Chicago fills a big need (even with the addition of Jon Bostic) and he has the ability to start as an outside linebacker in the 4-3 system. If he gets an opportunity, he can be a perennial 100-tackle player in the NFL. 

Marcus Lattimore, RB, San Francisco 49ers

If he was healthy, Marcus Lattimore would be considered easily the top running back in the class. He possesses great strength to break tackles as well as the speed to get to the end zone in the open field. 

Unfortunately, the South Carolina running back tore multiple ligaments in his knee toward the end of his junior season. This caused many teams to shy away from risking an early pick on the player who can possibly never return to his previous form.

However, he enters a perfect situation with the 49ers, who have no immediate need for a running back. The team has Frank Gore still at the top of his game, plus Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James as change-of-pace backs.

This will allow the squad to bring Lattimore along slowly and make sure he is completely recovered before stepping back onto the football field. 

By the time the running back is 100 percent, he can take over for Gore as the lead back and take the NFL by storm. 

Bacarri Rambo, S, Washington Redskins

There were some concerns over Bacarri Rambo's character after he was suspended for four games to start the 2012 season due to a failed drug test. However, there is no denying the safety's ability on the football field.

He is a great athlete with the size and strength to come up and play great defense against the run when needed. Against the pass, he is an enforcer in the middle as a hard-hitter who will stop opposing receivers from making plays.

Although he does not have elite speed, he has good instincts to make plays on the ball and will force plenty of turnovers at the next level.

Washington had a huge need in the secondary after allowing the third-most passing yards in the NFL last season. With the No. 191 pick, the Redskins add someone who can get onto the field quickly and has the chance to earn the starting job in his first year.

It is rare to find a player of this ability in the sixth round, but the Redskins got a steal with this one.
