Dallas Cowboys Undrafted Free Agents: Tracking the Latest Signings

May 31, 2018

The 2013 NFL draft is over, and now the Dallas Cowboys are busy signing undrafted free agents. Most are camp bodies, but some always end up sneaking up to make some noise, so it's always interesting to see who signs in the wake of the draft.

Here, we'll track the signings as they're reported and announced.

Wisconsin CB Devin Smith

Dallas lost Mike Jenkins in the offseason but drafted B.W. Webb. Smith is quick but has already missed an entire college season due to injury. He'll have a tough time beating out Sterling Moore.

Saginaw Valley State S Jeff Heath

2 of 15

Heath might come from a small school, but he's got a knack for making plays and the Cowboys are very thin at safety. Every safety signed during this period has a legit shot.

Arizona State LB Brandon Magee

3 of 15

Magee is versatile and he comes from a good program, so there's a chance he could make a splash amid a thin position. The Cowboys are thin at linebacker, but they drafted a similar player in DeVonte Holloman.

Akron QB Dalton Williams

4 of 15

Dalton Williams threw 16 interceptions in one year with Akron in the MAC. It would be a miracle if he were to make the roster. Interesting, though, that Dallas now have five arms on the roster.

Missouri RB Kendial Lawrence

5 of 15

Dallas now has five running backs on the roster, so the chips are stacked against Lawrence. However, he did have some nice moments while averaging over 5.0 yards per carry at Mizzou.

Texas A&M CB Dustin Harris

6 of 15

If Harris is going to make this team, it's going to be as a return specialist, not as a cornerback. He'll have to dazzle, beating out B.W. Webb and Dwayne Harris.

SMU LB Taylor Reed

7 of 15

The linebacker position is thin, and one big thing Reed has going for him is that he has a knack for making big plays. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns in 2012 at Southern Methodist.

South Carolina State S Jakar Hamilton

8 of 15

As I mentioned with Heath, there are opportunities to make this roster if you're a safety and getting practice reps. He has some experience at cornerback, too, but he might not have the size or overall ability to make it.

Mississippi State LB Cameron Lawrence

9 of 15

This guy's my dark horse. He can do it all. A tackle machine who can break up passes, force fumbles and make picks. I expect to hear his name a lot as a candidate to sneak on to the squad at linebacker.

Virginia FB Paul Freedman

10 of 15

At least he only has to overtake one guy, but Lawrence Vickers won't be easy to supplant at fullback. He's a body.

Eastern Washington WR Greg Herd

11 of 15

Big crowd at wide receiver with Dallas using three straight drafts to address the position, but Herd could get a shot at returning kicks.

Clemson P Spencer Benton

12 of 15

Chris Jones had the highest net average in the NFL last year, so don't expect Benton to supplant him. Still, it's nice to have another leg in camp and Benton could be a wild card when you consider his skills as a long-distance field-goal kicker.

Clemson CB Xavier Brewer

13 of 15

A three-year starter in the ACC, Brewer has the experience and the versatility to catch on somewhere. He might be viewed as a tweener, but his ability to play safety could help quite a lot.

West Alabama OLB Deon Lacey

14 of 15

The undersized Lacey will have to add some weight before being considered, but the longshot is a former Gulf South Coast Conference defensive player of the year. He's a play-maker, and the 'Boys need help in that area.

Cal Lutheran WR Eric Rogers

15 of 15

We're really digging deep into the SCIAC now, but give Rogers some credit for putting 18 touchdowns on the board in only 10 games in 2012. He's a camp body, but clearly the guy can execute.
