Cincinnati Bengals and Andre Smith Agree to 3 Year Deal

Kyle BattleApr 26, 2013

The Cincinnati Bengals and Andre Smith have finally agreed to terms. ESPN Analyst Adam Schefter announced today via Twitter that the two sides have come to an agreement.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis spoke positively of the situation earlier this week and hoped that the deal would get done. When asked to describe the situation in meteorological terms, he had this to say: "I don't know. The sun is emerging maybe. Obviously it's been a process, and hopefully we can get it concluded here prior to the draft (Bengals.com)."

They did just that. The deal is reportedly three years worth $18 million. This doesn't necessarily mean that they won't still draft an offensive tackle: "I think the overall drafting (of) an offensive tackle if he's the best player, even if Andre were signed, would be something we would still consider (Bengals.com)." The Bengals have made three picks in the draft thus far and none have been offensive tackles.
