NFL Draft 2013: Final Mocks for the St. Louis Rams

Ryan BothmannJun 8, 2018

We have finally reached draft day. The day that all NFL fans wait for, hoping that their favorite team will draft an exciting player or two that will make their team better going forward.

Over the past few months we have all been pouring over any mock draft that we can get our hands on, hoping to see that the experts think a top prospect will be going to our favorite team. These mocks have changed drastically since the Super Bowl concluded in February. Every NFL scout, coach and general manager has had the chance to see everything they want from every prospect. With free agency passing as well, many NFL teams used veteran players to fill needs on their teams, and that has also changed many mock drafts.

Now it is draft time.

Before we tune in Thursday night, here is a look at seven final mock drafts as we prepare for the first round. The mock drafts are done by Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN, Steve Muench of Scouts Inc., Walter Cherepinsky and Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com, Josh Norris of NFL.com and our very own Matt Miller at Bleacher Report. All mocks feature seven rounds, except for McShay and Kiper, who will each feature only one round.

Here is a look at who the experts are saying the St. Louis Rams will take this weekend.

Todd McShay Mock Draft

1 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Kenny Vaccaro, Safety, Texas

Round 1 (Pick 22): Eddie Lacy, Running Back, Alabama

In this mock the Rams fill two big areas of concern on both sides of the football. Vaccaro fits well into a secondary that has tremendous corners but lacks truly talented safeties, and could provide an instant impact for one of the league's youngest and most talented defenses. On the offensive side of the ball, Eddie Lacy fills a major void that longtime running back Steven Jackson left when he went to Atlanta this offseason.

Mel Kiper Mock Draft

2 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Kenny Vaccaro, Safety, Texas

Round 1 (Pick 22): Cordarrelle Patterson, Wide Receiver, Tennessee

The Rams go with Vaccaro here with their first pick once again. With the second pick though they choose to go with receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson could take time for the Rams to develop, but the payoff down the road could be absolutely huge for them.

Steve Muench Mock Draft

3 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Kenny Vaccaro, Safety, Texas

Round 1 (Pick 22): Eddie Lacy, Running Back, Alabama

Round 2 (Pick 46): Robert Woods, Wide Receiver, USC

Round 3 (Pick 78): Brian Winters, Guard, Kent State

Round 4 (Pick 113): DeVonte Holloman, Outside Linebacker, South Carolina

Round 5 (Pick 149): Nick Williams, Defensive Tackle, Samford

Round 6 (Pick 184): Will Davis, Running Back, Utah State

Round 7 (Pick 222): Terry Hawthorne, Cornerback, Illinois

The Rams once again choose Vaccaro, showing just how much many of the experts think he would be able to help the Rams secondary. The team addresses the wide receiver position in the second round by taking Robert Woods from USC, but still fails to draft a true No. 1 receiver. The Rams continue to fill major areas of need throughout each round, including a great value pick in cornerback Terry Hawthorne in the final round.

Walter Cherepinsky Mock Draft

4 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Alec Ogletree, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

Round 1 (Pick 22): DeAndre Hopkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson

Round 2 (Pick 46): Johnathan Franklin, Running Back, UCLA

Round 3 (Pick 78): Shamarko Thomas, Safety, Syracuse

Round 4 (Pick 113): Hugh Thornton, Guard, Illinois

Round 5 (Pick 149): Ace Sanders, Wide Receiver, South Carolina

Round 6 (Pick 184): Terry Hawthorne, Cornerback, Illinois

Round 7 (Pick 222): Micah Hyde, Cornerback, Iowa

In this mock draft the Rams go with linebacker Alec Ogletree very early in the draft. His stock has fallen over the last few weeks, in large part to a DUI he received before the NFL combine. The Rams also grab DeAndre Hopkins at receiver, a player they have shown significant interest in over the last few weeks. Johnathan Franklin is a great second-round pick to fill the running back position, and speedy receiver Ace Sanders is a great value in the fifth round because of what he can do for St. Louis on special teams.

Charlie Campbell Mock Draft

5 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Alec Ogletree, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

Round 1 (Pick 22): DeAndre Hopkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson

Round 2 (Pick 46): Eddie Lacy, Running Back, Alabama

Round 3 (Pick 78): Shamarko Thomas, Safety, Syracuse

Round 4 (Pick 113): Alvin Bailey, Guard, Arkansas

Round 5 (Pick 149): Jordan Hill, Defensive Tackle, Penn State

Round 6 (Pick 184): Earl Watford, Guard, James Madison

Round 7 (Pick 222): Terrence Brown, Safety, Stanford

Just like the last mock draft, the Rams take Ogletree and Hopkins with their top selections. This time though they address the running back position by using their second-round pick on Alabama running back Eddie Lacy. St. Louis uses the rest of their picks to add depth to both their offensive and defensive lines and give the team much needed help in the secondary.

Josh Norris Mock Draft

6 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Chance Warmack, Guard, Alabama

Round 1 (Pick 22): DeAndre Hopkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson

Round 2 (Pick 46): Matt Elam, Safety, Florida

Round 3 (Pick 78): Giovani Bernard, Running Back, North Carolina

Round 4 (Pick 113): DeVonte Holloman, Outside Linebacker, South Carolina

Round 5 (Pick 149): Josh Evans, Safety, Florida

Round 6 (Pick 184): Xavier Nixon, Tackle, Florida

Round 7 (Pick 222): Sheldon Price, Cornerback, UCLA

The Rams load up with SEC players in this mock draft, especially those who are from Florida. Chance Warmack and Matt Elam are both absolute steals at No. 16 and No. 46, respectively. DeAndre Hopkins and Giovani Bernard add some much needed help to what tends to be a very stagnant St. Louis offense.

Matt Miller Mock Draft

7 of 7

Round 1 (Pick 16): Chance Warmack, Guard, Alabama

Round 1 (Pick 22): Cordarrelle Patterson, Wide Receiver, Tennessee

Round 2 (Pick 46): Alec Ogletree, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

Round 3 (Pick 78): Marquise Goodwin, Wide Receiver, Texas

Round 4 (Pick 113): Le'Veon Bell, Running Back, Michigan State

Round 5 (Pick 149): Jordan Hill, Defensive Tackle, Penn State

Round 6 (Pick 184): Robert Lester, Safety, Alabama

Round 7 (Pick 222): Jason Weaver, Tackle, Southern Miss

Warmack once again is too good for the Rams to pass up at No. 16. St. Louis drafts a big-time down-the-field target in Cordarrelle Patterson in the first round and also adds the lightning quick Marquise Goodwin to their receiving corps. Alec Ogletree's off-the-field problems cause him to slip all the way into the second round, making it nearly impossible for the Rams to not pull the trigger.
