Mock Draft 2.0: One Day before the Draft
You can find my first mock draft here.
For my second (and final) mock draft, if there was no change to the pick, I obviously put "NO CHANGE." If there was a change, I explain it. In the case of certain teams (Jets, Jaguars), I put my opinion on them trading up or down in the draft.
Enjoy.
1. Detroit Lions—Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
NO CHANGE
2. St. Louis Rams—Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
NO CHANGE
3. Kansas City Chiefs—Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
NO CHANGE
4. Seattle Seahawks—Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
NO CHANGE
5. Cleveland Browns—Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
NO CHANGE
6. Cincinnati Bengals—Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
NO CHANGE
7. Oakland Raiders—Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
NO CHANGE
8. Jacksonville Jaguars—B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
There is no change here, but I would like to say that if this scenario happens for the Jaguars, I fully expect them to be trading out of this spot. The Redskins and the Jets are the most likely candidates, with the Jets leading, I would say. They fell into a great spot.
9. Green Bay Packers—Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
NO CHANGE
10. San Francisco 49ers—Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
NO CHANGE
11. Buffalo Bills—Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
NO CHANGE
12. Denver Broncos—Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
NO CHANGE
13. Washington Redskins—Ebon Britton, OT, Arizona
The Redskins need offensive line help, big time. The big four are gone, so they make the first reach of the draft in Britton. On draft day, I don’t expect them to be drafting 13th overall.
14. New Orleans Saints—Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
NO CHANGE
15. Houston Texans—Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
NO CHANGE
16. San Diego Chargers—William Beatty, OT, Conneticut
The offensive line of the Chargers play dropped drastically from two years ago. They shore up the offensive line to continue to have one of the best offenses in the league.
17. New York Jets—Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State
There is no change here, but if Sanchez falls to the eight spot, I expect them to trade up. If he doesn’t last, I expect them to trade down.
18. Denver Broncos—Everette Brown, DE, Florida State
NO CHANGE
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers—Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
NO CHANGE
20. Detroit Lions—Robert Ayers, DE, Tennesee
They would hope either Britton or Beatty falls to them here, but the run on offensive linemen went quick. They take one of the best 4-3 defensive ends in the draft at the 20 spot to be a focal point for their defense alongside Sims.
21. Philadelphia Eagles—Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
With the news of Sheldon Brown wanting a new contract or to be traded, it added to a small list of needs for the Eagles. They grab Davis here on his athleticism, and to play the nickel for the first year. He will take over for Sheldon Brown when he is traded.
22. Minnesota Vikings—Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
No one expected Maclin to last this far, but it is been proven that the trenches are more needed than wide receivers. The Vikings have stated that they will be looking for offensive help in the draft, and since they have the best RB in the league, they go wide receiver here. Pettigrew is also another possible choice.
23. New England Patriots—Rey Maualaga, MLB, USC
NO CHANGE
24. Atlanta Falcons—Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
NO CHANGE
25. Miami Dolphins—Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah
NO CHANGE
26. Baltimore Ravens—Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
NO CHANGE
27. Indianapolis Colts—Evander Hood, DT, Missouri
NO CHANGE
28. Buffalo Bills—Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
NO CHANGE
29. New York Giants—Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
NO CHANGE
30. Tennessee Titans—Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
NO CHANGE
31. Arizona Cardinals—Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
NO CHANGE
32. Pittsburgh Steelers—Alex Mack, C, California
NO CHANGE
