NFL Draft 2013: Teams That Need to Draft an Ex-Alabama Stud in the First Round

Charlie PotterApr 23, 2013

The 2013 NFL draft is tomorrow, and every professional team with a pick in the first round is weighing its options to try to decide the best fit for its franchise.

The defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide has several players hoping to hear their names called on the first day of the draft, and almost every NFL franchise could use the services of a Nick Saban-coached player on its roster.

Here we break down the NFL teams that need to draft former Alabama stars in the first round on Thursday April 25.

Cleveland Browns

1 of 4

The Cleveland Browns own the No. 6 pick in the 2013 NFL draft and will look to improve on either side of the ball with the best player that is available to them.

The Browns could use help on defense, and Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner would be a great option opposite Joe Haden.

If he's not there, Cleveland executives could address the offensive line by drafting guard Chance Warmack. He's accustomed to blocking for Trent Richardson, so the reunion would be a welcome one.

Tennessee Titans

2 of 4

The Tennessee Titans owns the No. 10 pick in the draft, and they are in the same boat as the Browns.

The team could use the assistance of both Milliner and Warmack. However, Milliner will likely be off the board by the time the Titans are on the clock.

Therefore, Warmack is the ideal pick for them. He will fit in nicely to create holes for Chris Johnson to run through, as well as offer protection for young quarterback Jake Locker.

If Warmack is still available at No. 10, the Titans can't pass him up.

San Diego Chargers

3 of 4

The San Diego Chargers own the No. 11 pick in the draft, and they desperately need help along the offensive line. However, a player like Warmack is unlikely to fall out of the top 10 picks.

Tackles Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson are more than likely going to be off the board as well. Therefore, San Diego will have to look in another direction, but not at a different position.

Look no further than former Alabama tackle D.J. Fluker. Fluker is a mammoth of a tackle that excels in run blocking. He'll give Chargers running back Ryan Mathews a mountain to run behind.

San Diego's officials should seriously consider choosing Fluker with the 11th pick.

New York Jets

4 of 4

The New York Jets own the No. 9 and No. 13 (from Tampa Bay) picks in the draft, and they need help.

The Jets and Buccaneers recently agreed to a trade that sent Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay in exchange for the 13th overall pick, but the trade leaves New York with a depleted secondary.

With the extra picks, the Jets should look at trading up in the draft to acquire Milliner before he's gone. If they choose to wait and see what falls into their lap, they could jump on Warmack or Fluker to add much-needed protection on the offensive front.

Regardless of who it chooses, New York will have a lot of work to do in order to get back to the playoffs in 2013.
