Tiger Tangents: Drafting the All Time LSU Spring Game

In my last column I wrote about the fact that LSU's spring game has no imagination. It's basically the 1's and 2's pounding the 3's and scout team into the ground. It wasn't so long ago coaching staffs were split and asked to draft a squad from their roster of players. I thought about how much fun that would be for the coaches. So with LSU's Spring game now a thing of the past and the NFL Draft coming up this week, "I want to draft something!!!"

So that is what I and resident LSU writer Dale Weaver set out to do. The rules were simple, we set the roster positions and then we drafted over email over the course of a couple of days. I drafted the White Squad and Dale the Purple Squad. This was an all time draft so no current players. By the way you can check out Dale's take on LSU's Spring Game this past Saturday here.

This was a labor of love for the two of us that had highs (basically drafting anything is fun) and lows (LSU doesn't really have a tradition of Strong safeties so a Media Guide was a must).

I'd like to point out that somehow my three favorite LSU players growing up (Eric Martin, Dalton Hilliard, and Wendell Davis) all ended up on Dale's squad. My squad has a Heisman winner and an NFL Hall of Famer and Dale's Purple team has the most decorated player in LSU history. Dale smashes me in the nickname matchup as he has a Booger, a Nacho, a Blue, a Putt, and a Diesel on his team.
