Boston Bruins Fans Unite in Beautiful Rendition of National Anthem

Sometimes, you just can't help but sing the national anthem with every last fiber of your being.

On Wednesday night, the Boston Bruins were back on the ice for a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres and their fans filled the building looking for the kind of solace that can only be found in rooting for the home team.

The Sporting News' Jesse Spector was at the game and managed to capture something that is, for lack of a better word, marvelous.

Rene Rancourt begins a solemn "Star-Spangled Banner" following a video homage honoring those affected by Monday's bombings, which has claimed the lives of three and injured over 150 bystanders.

Rancourt begins the anthem before realizing something very special is taking place at TD Garden. Like a true professional, he accepts that he has been drowned out by a far more wondrous sound: thousands of Boston faithful joining in on the singing.

We have all been affected by the horrendous images. It becomes difficult to remember the good that can take place, but Boston reminded us once again on Wednesday night.

The Sporting News previously noted all the ballparks that decided to play "Sweet Caroline" this week in a show of solidarity for Boston and all those affected by the tragedy, proving the power of sport and song can truly unite during tough times.

I have been a part of so many national anthems at sporting events I can't even bother to count. Usually, the sounds from the stands range from those who mumble the words to those who merely lip-synch along.

In this case, there was no question as to how loud fans would sing the time-honored anthem. From the maestros in the audience to those who might be tone deaf, every last fan belted out the song in a beautiful scene Wednesday night.
