Mark Harrison: Video Highlights for Former Rutgers Wide Receiver

David DeWittJun 8, 2018

Rutgers wide receiver Mark Harrison has great size for the NFL at 6'3" and 231 lbs.

He had an outstanding high school career, winning two state championships and averaging a truly remarkable 27.4 yards

His career at Rutgers had its ups and downs, with a spectacular sophomore effort followed by a lackluster junior season and a partial recovery his senior year.

He finished his college career with 107 receptions for 1,769 yards and 18 touchdowns. Harrison's size and athleticism should intrigue some NFL teams who will look to develop him into a physically formidable talent.

He has been working out with similarly-sized Bears WR Brandon Marshall to hone his skills in anticipation of the NFL.

Here is a look at some of his more striking highlights.

Bodies out Defender to Get One-Handed TD Grab

In this clip, Harrison's physicality is on display as he battles his defender on the outside.

Harrison wins the one-on-one battle as both make a play for the ball. Harrison uses his body to come back in for the ball as he snatches it away—and does it one-handed, no less.

He keeps his feet chugging enough to outrun a dive tackle from his defender to make it into the end zone for a touchdown.

Leaps over the Defender in Red-Zone Touchdown

This highlight is pure physicality.

The defender maintains tight coverage as the red-zone play develops and Harrison runs into the end zone.

Harrison swivels around in time to leap up with the defender in his face.

He is able to grab the ball over the head of his defender, bring it down and land in the end zone for the touchdown.

Outruns His Coverage over the Middle for the Long TD

Here Rutgers is on their own 28 when Harrison runs out to the 40 and begins to cut in over the top.

Harrison is able to cut behind the safety and gain separation from his defender as he cuts across the middle of the field, catching the ball at the opponent's 40.

He avoids the attempted diving tackle by keeping his balance and his legs moving and runs the ball in for the 72-yard touchdown.

Sheds Tackle and Escapes Defender to Go for Long Touchdown

In this highlight, Harrison runs a hitch five yards from the line of scrimmage.

He is elusive enough while still taking some of the hit from the first defender, shedding him off and cutting toward the outside to avoid the second defender.

After that, Harrison is able to accelerate past a third defender and run the rest of the way home for the 68-yard touchdown.

Outruns Defender Down Sideline for TD

This last highlight shows Harrison beating his defender down the sideline.

He has to adjust slightly to the ball, slowing him down when he catches it.

He is able to recover, having gained enough distance between himself and his defender to still run in for the touchdown.
