Demontre Hurst: Video Highlights for Former Oklahoma CB
Oklahoma cornerback Demontre Hurst had a very successful collegiate career with the Sooners, twice being named a second-team All-Big 12 performer.
However, his NFL future is somewhat cloudy, due in large part to a 5'10", 183-pound frame that would seem to limit him to a slot role as a pro.
That isn't to say that Hurst can't find some success at the next level, and if he does, it will likely be because of the skills highlighted here.
Rushing the Passer vs. Texas, 2009
1 of 5Hurst was a star high school football player in Lancaster, Texas, and after his career with the Sooners, I'll wager that Mack Brown wishes he'd recruited Hurst to play for the Longhorns.
The small CB always seemed to make Texas pay when he played against them.
That trend started during Hurst's freshman year, when he showed off his ability to get after the quarterback by hauling down Colt McCoy for a big loss in the Red River Shootout.
Pick-Six vs. Texas, 2011
2 of 5Apparently, that sack of Colt McCoy was only the beginning of Hurst wreaking havoc against the Texas Longhorns.
Two years later, he was back at it in a 55-17 blowout by the Sooners.
On the play, pressured Longhorns quarterback David Ash attempts to throw it to the tight end in the flat. Hurst sees the pass coming from a mile away, jumps the route and takes it back for 55 yards and a score.
Defending the Run vs. Air Force, 2010
3 of 5If there's a knock on Hurst, it's that he's built on the smallish side, which leads some to question how he'll hold up at the point of attack in the NFL.
However, Hurst has shown the ability to be a capable run defender in space, as demonstrated by this play against Air Force in 2010.
On the play, Hurst recognizes the pitch and does a good job both of stretching the play out and wrapping up the ball-carrier, dropping the running back for a loss.
Laying the Lumber vs. Texas A&M, 2011
4 of 5Hurst didn't contain his impressive performances against all things Texas to just the Longhorns.
In a November matchup with Texas A&M during Hurst's junior year, he showed that, for a "little" guy, he's more than willing to lay a big hit.
Aggies wideout Ryan Swope finds that out the hard way in this highlight.
Laying the Lumber 2.0 vs. Iowa, 2011
5 of 5Apparently, someone forgot to tell Hurst that he's too small and not physical enough to be a successful cornerback in the National Football League.
He certainly appeared plenty physical in the Sooners' bowl game to conclude the 2011 campaign.
In the Insight Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes, Hurst once again displayed that he has no issue with making receivers pay for having the nerve to actually try to catch the football, separating the receiver from the ball on a throw over the middle.
