Who Could Replace Tony Eury Jr.?
Here are a few people I think should be considered to take the spot on Junior's pit box should Hendrick decide to replace Tony Eury Jr.
Doug Randolph
The crew chief of the now defunct No. 8 Earnhardt Ganassi Motorsports team may be open to the option of working on a team still competing on a weekly basis.
Randolph, who did all he could as a crew chief, could be a different style of crew chief, which Earnhardt Junior needs at this point in his career.
Plus, the fact that they would both be former Earnhardt Ganassi employees could be extra motivation to perform.
Billy Venturini
This guy has shown that he can win with almost anybody behind the wheel.
From Joey Logano to, most recently, Sean Caisse, who won in his ARCA debut, Venturini truly can be called the brains behind the trophies at Venturini Motorsports.
Sure, Sprint Cup is a lot different than ARCA, but give a guy like Venturini the resources of a team like Hendrick and expect to see him putting cars in victory lane one way or another.
Michael "Fatback" McSwain
I know he retired at the end of 2007 to spend more time with his family but this is also somewhat of a wish-list of crew chiefs for Hendrick.
Junior has become too comfortable with Eury Jr. on the pit box and an old school crew chief like Fatback could be just what he needs to get him back on track.
Tony Eury Sr.
The saying may be "mother always knows best" but in this case it may be father that knows best.
Eury Sr., who still is a crew chief on the Nationwide level with JR Motorsports No. 88 entry of Brad Keselowski is another crew chief who could really crack the whip on Junior.
Brian Campe
Campe is current crew chief for the No. 5 Nationwide entry for JR Motorsports who has experience working with Junior and other Cup drivers like Tony Stewart and Mark Martin.
Campe definitely deserves a shot to prove himself on a full-time basis at the premier series working with one driver and developing a sound driver-crew chief relationship.
Alan Gustafson
I'm sure Mark Martin would have a few objections with this idea but I think if you switched Gustafson and Eury Jr. it would be in Hendrick's best long term interest.
Working with a veteran driver like Martin could benefit Eury Jr. as a crew chief and Gustafson, who has won with numerous drivers, could be a beneficial presence on the No. 88 pitbox.
Again, this is just a recommendation for a wish-list for Hendrick coming from a non-Junior fan who roots for Kyle Busch, but I think I may be on to something.
