Dear Chicago Cubs Fans, I Pity You

Dear Chicago Cubs fans, I pity you.

They continue to support one of the most pathetic franchises in the entire sports world. Their struggles have continued for more than a lifetime, and just when it seems things are getting brighter the clouds roll in and rain down on all the hope accumulated from their current success.

Yet year after year they remain sure that their curse is coming to an end. All these things considered, you want to see some triumph amidst all their turmoil. However, you then have the misfortune of meeting one of their fans and you realize that you only want their pain and suffering to continue.

Now there are many different types of fans:

• Basic fair weather fan who cheers when their team is in some sort of contention, otherwise they are no where to be found.
• Fans that cheer for teams located in every geographical region in the country, try to figure out how they came to like that collective group of teams as well as their reasoning for liking those teams and you will only be left confused.
• Ridiculous college fan that is outlandish and paints his face for every game but does not have a clue what is going on.
• Know it all fan who honestly believes that if they were in charge of making executive decisions they would be able to resurrect their team from its current struggles, or put their team into immediate contention.
• Fan who has to predict every upcoming play and is fortunate enough to get one out of every thousand calls right.

All these fans combined are quite annoying and somehow ruin the excitement of the game, but as bad as this compilation of idiots are, they are still not as bad as a Cubs fan.

Now this tangent I am about to go on does not apply to all Cubs supporters, in fact there a selective few that I do respect. And this applies to anyone who is a Cubs fan and does not fight the truth.

You keep your mouth shut because you are a realist. You know that even if you were to go 162-0, you still have very little chance of reaching the ultimate goal. You have stuck by the worst team in sports history, for this alone I have to show respect. It’s just too bad this pertains to about 2% of all Cubs supporters.
