2013 Masters Leaderboard: Updated Reaction to End of Day 2 Standings

Jun 8, 2018

After two full days of golf, it's Jason Day that has emerged atop the 2013 Masters leaderboard in Augusta.

The 25-year-old Australian has made a run at Augusta before. He finished second in the 2011 edition of the tournament, and he is in full control of his own destiny at six-below par heading into what is sure to be an intense weekend.

With all eyes of the sporting world directly focused on what's going down in golf's biggest event of the year, there was plenty of reaction to the tournament's leader (Day), the game's most noticeable athlete (Tiger Woods) and everyone's new favorite golfer (14-year-old Tianlang Guan).

Day's hot start didn't go unnoticed by fans. As ESPN Stats & Info points out, he's entering uncharted territory:

He also made the Masters' weekend action a lot more entertaining when he didn't birdie the final hole of Round 2. It allowed seven golfers, including Guan to make the cut.

Speaking of Guan, the 14-year-old sensation stole the show Friday. As if he didn't already have everyone rooting for him already, he gained even more fans when he faced added adversity in the form of a one-stroke penalty for slow play:

Despite the setback, Guan battled back and made the cut:

Of course, Twitter didn't forget about Tiger. Woods enters the weekend at three below par and well within striking distance of Day and the rest of the tornament's primary contenders.

ESPN may have summed up an intriguing Day 2 best:

With all the great storylines from Day 2, we are in for one epic weekend of action.
