Tim Tebow's Seemingly Imminent Departure from Jets Is Best for Both Parties
The sooner Tim Tebow leaves the New York Jets, the better for he and the team.
Tebow leaving the Jets is a foregone conclusion, says Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, per Dan Hanzus of the same network. But the team is only continuing the distraction that hampered it throughout a disappointing 2012 season.
The Jets foolishly acquired Tebow from the Denver Broncos based on what I believe was commercial appeal. It never appeared as though they had any real interest in giving him a shot to play quarterback.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hanzus mentions the team gave up $2.5 million and two draft picks to acquire Tebow. To sacrifice that much for a player you only planned to use as a Wildcat option is ridiculous.
During practices, the Jets players—and apparently the coaches—weren't impressed with him. Teammates called him awful during the season, and said he hadn't improved.
This situation has created an environment that both parties should be rushing to change. The Jets shouldn't be willing to deal with the media circus at training camp, and Tebow shouldn't be eager to work where he obviously isn't wanted.
Hanzus says the Jets aren't likely to get anything higher than a seventh-round pick for Tebow—and that's if they can find a suitor.
Dragging this process out for a seventh-round pick isn't worth it. The Jets need to distance themselves from the troubles of 2012 as soon as possible. Releasing Tebow is the best option for them.
It would also give the quarterback a chance to see what team(s) really wants him. Some general managers and coaches may have an interest, but they may not be willing to part with assets to acquire him.
If he is a free agent, he would have less restrictions, a clearer understanding of what to expect and a better shot to actually play quarterback.
Hopefully, the Jets put us all out of our misery soon.
