Top Matchups NFL Fans Can’t Miss
San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
The San Francisco 49ers came up just short in 2012, losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl, but the team will face its toughest test twice when they have to battle division foe, the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle had a great 2012 season as well, and with the addition of a game changer like Percy Harvin at wide receiver now (h/t ESPN), there is no doubt that the Seahawks will be even more impressive this season.
While the 49ers are the favorites to win the division, they will have to earn it against a tough Seattle team that will not go down without a fight. With two of the toughest defenses in the league, this NFC West battle is going to get personal.
Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots
The rivalry between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots has heated up when Peyton Manning joined the fray, but last year will be nothing compared to the competition between these clubs in 2013.
The biggest difference will be Wes Welker. The long-time Patriots’ star receiver was a free agent this offseason, and after not receiving the deal he wanted in New England (h/t Boston Globe), decided to sign with the rival Broncos.
Not only are these two teams serious contenders to make it to the Super Bowl, the added animosity of a top player changing teams and the chip on both Welker’s and the Patriots organization’s shoulder will have these two teams going to war.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Green Bay Packers
One of the most unpredictable matchups of the 2013 season will be the game between the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and the 2010 champion Green Bay Packers.
Both teams have plenty of talent and more than enough postseason experience to be serious contenders in their respective conferences, but offseason turnover and teams around them getting better have raised questions about how well the Ravens and Packers will perform.
Not only will this game be a great gauge of where these teams are as a unit, it should be the perfect way to judge Green Bay and Baltimore to see if these truly are organizations that should be considered Super Bowl contenders this season.
There is too much depth and talent on each roster for this interconference battle not to become an instant classic.
