Lakers Enigma Metta World Peace Is 'Too Sexy for His Cat'
April 10, 2013Quick! Someone cue up Right Said Fred!
Metta World Peace kicked off his early return from knee surgery as one would expect—with non sequiturs from a 1991 pop song by a one-hit wonder British band.
The fun began after the Lakers’ Tuesday night win against the New Orleans Hornets, when reporters in the locker room began asking Peace about his swift return to the court following surgery to repair his meniscus.
How was World Peace able to come back from knee surgery after just 12 days off?
“Well, you know...I’m just too sexy for my cat,” said World Peace. “I’m too sexy for my cat. My cat.”
Reporters pushed him further, asking him how his cat was involved with his speedy recovery. World Peace answered their questions with rock hard facts and scientific specificity.
“If I wasn’t as sexy for my cat, I probably wouldn’t have came back. I’m so sexy, I came back.”
If you haven’t caught on yet, the source of World Peace’s weird comments can be traced back to this Right Said Fred song, which we’ll assume the Lakers small forward was listening to in his Hyundai on the way to work that day.
