Tiger Woods' Confidence Will Prove to Be His Biggest Weapon at 2013 Masters

Brian MaziqueJun 8, 2018

The confident, motivated Tiger Woods is back, and the rest of the field at The 2013 Masters will be facing a monster. At his best, Woods is filled with sharp wit and quick-hitting comments fueled by his legendary game.

When asked about how he felt heading into the Masters, Woods said:

"I feel comfortable with every aspect of my game."

Woods' opponents are the best players in the world so they won't intimidate easily, but by Saturday, they will know that sentence should have warned them of the storm that was coming.

If it isn't obvious, Woods is my pick to win The Masters this weekend. I'm not one that continuously predicts Woods will win every major championship in hopes of ultimately getting it right.

Before now, there has been something missing in his overall game.

It was something beyond putting beneath the monumental standards he set for himself and even deeper than failing to devour the par-five holes that used to be a showcase for his enormous talent. Ultimately, Woods was void of the trademark swagger that made him a complete presence.

That swagger has returned, and Woods finally looks like a player to be feared again.

He has already won three times this year and regained the No. 1 ranking in the world. Some are waiting for him to win a major to declare that the old-Tiger has returned.

In my eyes, the old-Tiger was back the moment that I saw his confidence was restored.

We could attribute Woods' near five-year drought without a major to a lot of things.

He's had to make the transition from a very young professional golfer to a late-30s player. After all, Nicklaus had a three-year (1975-1978) and six-year drought (1980-1986) between major championships in his career.

Woods' slump has also been impacted by injury and personal issues. Finally, he seems to have put those things behind him. He is back on track to do the things we marveled at for over a decade.
