A Legacy of One: When the Legacy Will Finally Come to an End!

Joe Burgett Apr 21, 2009

This Sunday at Backlash we could possibly see the launching pad for Randy Orton's Legacy. Because if his team ends up winning in the six-man tag, then Randy Orton becomes WWE Champion.

However listen to that fact, Orton will become Champion. Not the winner of the match, if it is Ted DiBiase or Cody Rhodes. Oh no, Orton will be Champion.

Quite frankly, I hate the whole idea for having a tag match for any singles title. So I am not in favor of this anyway, but still the fact remains that Orton could easily be WWE Champion at Backlash.

However it seems to be all about Orton, doesn't it? I mean Orton is going after the WWE Title. Not Rhodes or Dibiase.

Apparently the WWE listened to B/R Writer AkD when he said he wanted to see Rhodes and DiBiase wrestle and talk more. Because they have been lately.

Before Legacy, Rhodes and DiBiase were two time tag champions together. While in Legacy, they have beaten the Unified tag champions in the Colons in a non-title match.

It is not about anyone but Orton here. And I think Dibiase and Rhodes are going to figure that out soon.

Word has it that Ted Dibiase's movie, The Marine 2, is in post-production right now. Meaning they are editing all the clips together they like for the movie.

It is a sequel to the best selling WWE film of all time starring John Cena, The Marine.

It is set to come out in the fall straight to DVD.

Why am I telling you this? Well word has it that Ted DiBiase will be turning babyface to promote the movie. He is set to be in a heated rivalry with Orton.

Which means Legacy will end at this time. Everyone who has promoted a movie for the WWE has been face. Cena, Mr. Kennedy, etc.

Personally, I thought once DiBiase came back earlier in the year that a rivalry would come between them then.

But instead he ended up joining The Legacy, surprising us all. I wanted a storyline with them, but instead he did join Legacy. It happens, I guess.

However, it may have been a good move in the long run, as Legacy is getting ratings. Also it is making two up-and-comers in Rhodes and Dibiase get big with the fans.

They now know their names and know what they can bring to the table. DiBiase is loved by the WWE and Vince McMahon. Meaning he will be a World Champion someday in the WWE.

So a rivalry between DiBiase and Orton seems to be the best thing once DiBiase's movie is set to come out. Also it would be similar to what happened in Evolution.

Orton was loved by Vince then, he thought he could be a star in the WWE. Turns out Vince was right obviously.

He pushed Orton and then he eventually won the World Heavyweight Championship. He then got into a heated rivalry with the leader of Evolution in Triple H.

Both are still doing well in the WWE, so the move did not hurt either. In fact it boosted both careers, as they both became a World Champion a few more times after that.

I feel if the WWE pushes DiBiase in this feud with Orton, we could be looking at the next Orton if you will. A man who could make a huge impact in the company very soon in his career.

Giving him a World Title in this feud maybe over doing it, but the feud between the two alone would be great for Dibiase.

Also, I want you to take a look at his finishing move. Orton debuted the RKO while in Evolution. It is now considered one of the most watched for moves and loved by fans all over.

Dibiase did the same with the Dream Street. I don't care what anyone says, if you have a great finisher, you can get attention from wrestling fans. Which result into pushes by promotions, and then championships.

So that move could be something we are looking forward to see like the RKO in the future.

I personally think if the WWE pushes DiBiase into winning the United States Championship and start becoming a good champion, that Orton will get jealous.

Orton cannot seem to get the WWE Title to save his life possibly and Dibiase keeps winning matches and winning titles until Orton cannot take it anymore and turns on him.

They have time before the fall to get this started as we are in April now, and DiBiase is ready for a singles push. I thought he looked great against Batista on SmackDown last week personally.

I have seen him in a few more singles matches, and he seems to be good enough in my eyes for a push to US Gold. MVP is the US Champ right now, and could hold the title for a few more months and that would be a good reign for him.

He is a face, and currently DiBiase is a heel. So with that said, DiBiase could beat MVP for the US Gold easily by Summerslam or Unforgiven.

Rhodes could be caught in the middle here and possibly would take Dibiase's side, as Orton has wronged him in the past.

Right now The Legacy is a Legacy of one, not three. Orton is the only one getting anything out of it. So DiBiase and Rhodes will not take that too much longer.
