Big news on the WWE front, as it appears former WWE champ and Hollywood action star The Rock may have abandoned his post.

As of this article, it's being reported that "The Great One" may have just taken his ball and headed home.

F4WOnline.com (via WrestlingInc.com) reports:

There is said to be absolute panic at RAW this afternoon. Tonight's show was scheduled to build to a segment where Brock Lesnar beat up The Rock to set up a WrestleMania XXX main event.

The Rock is not at RAW and word going around is he went home. Vince McMahon and WWE writers and producers are busy re-doing the show and apparently the angle has been nixed.

Nobody knows any details as to what happened past that. The belief now is that Rock won't be appearing tonight.

Personally, I am hoping that this is just an Internet-based rumor, as "The Brahma Bull" has done a solid job for the company and it would seem odd for him to depart this way. Not to mention, all appeared to be going well on the outside between both The Rock and the WWE. So one has to wonder what happened in less than 12 hours to cause such panic backstage.

Ultimately, the WWE has had a history of angering its talent and causing them to leave without notice. You may remember in 2002, when Steve Austin stepped out on Raw due to a conflict with the Creative department. Throughout that evening both Vince McMahon and The Rock publicly lambasted the "Texas Rattlesnake" and made him look to be unreasonable.

Now, it appears that The Rock may find himself on the receiving end of a similar attack and could quite possibly fall prey to the same on-air treatment. Coincidentally, both Austin and The Rock walked out when they were supposed to be involved in a segment with Brock Lesnar.

In the end, The Rock has done well by the WWE for the past three years. So, it’s highly unlikely that the company will rip him apart on Monday's Raw. However, I probably would have said the same thing a few years back about Austin, so one never knows what to expect.
