Manchester United
Manchester United beat Sunderland 2-1 in their last league outing for the Red Devils' second straight league win following two consecutive losses.
In their last five matches, Man Utd have won three and lost two and picked up nine points from the fifteen on offer. They are currently first in the league, one point clear of second-placed Liverpool with a match still in hand.
Manchester United will likely field a much stronger squad than the one that lost to Everton in their weekend FA Cup semifinal match, but they will be without Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves, and Johnny Evans, and Darren Fletcher is doubtful.
Portsmouth
Portsmouth beat Bolton 1-0 in their last league match for their first win in three matches.
In their last five matches, Portsmouth have won two and drawn three, picking up nine points from the available fifteen. Pompey currently sit 14th in the league, equal on points with 13th-placed Bolton and two points ahead of 15th-placed Sunderland.
Papa Bouba Diop is struggling with a knee injury and is still doubtful for this match.
Prediction
Man U beat Portsmouth 1-0 earlier this season at Fratton Park, whilst last season's Manchester United-Portsmouth fixture saw the Red Devils leave as 2-0 winners.
After a disappointing loss to Everton in their weekend FA Cup semifinal battle, Manchester United will look to bounce back strongly and ensure that the Premier League title remains theirs at the end of the season.
With their side set to be back to full strength for this match, and after dropping only five points at Old Trafford all season, Man Utd will go into this home fixture against a resurgent Portsmouth side as very heavy favourites for victory.
