LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers Out for Heat's Clash with Knicks

Alex KayApr 2, 2013

The Miami Heat will be without LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers for Tuesday night’s contest against the New York Knicks.

According to the team’s official Twitter feed, all three players missed the morning shootaround and will not be active for the game at American Airlines Arena, which tips off at 8 p.m. ET.

Chalmers is missing his third straight contest as he copes with a right ankle injury. Wade and James are going to be sitting out for their second game in a row, as the former is nursing an ankle injury and the latter is suffering from hamstring tightness.

The Heat surprisingly won without this group of stars on Easter Sunday, when Chris Bosh hit a game-winning three-point shot to steal a victory on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.

At 58-15, Miami has clinched the East and secured home-court advantage through the conference playoffs. The team had its 27-game win streak snapped by the Chicago Bulls on March 27, leaving little reason for the best players to try to play through injury with the postseason looming.

Regardless of who is sitting and who is playing on Tuesday evening, you can be sure the Knicks and Heat will put on a good show. This nationally televised meeting can be seen on TNT and live streamed on TNT Overtime, giving further reason for the bitter rivals to fight hard for the win.

It’s a shame that likely league MVP LeBron James and superstar sidekick Dwyane Wade won’t be in the lineup, but this matchup should still have a playoff atmosphere to it and feature a number of players stepping up in their absence.
