NCAA Men's Lacrosse: Predicting Tuesday's Division I Games

Mid-week lacrosse is a real treat for any true lacrosse fan. Gone are the days of countless Saturday games, with more and more contests being played during the week. This shows the growth of the game, with multiple weekday TV broadcasts and action to keep the expanding fanbase hooked.

Let's take a look at the games coming up on Tuesday. Here are my quick notes and predictions for the three games on the Division I slate for April 2nd.

Manhattan @ Wagner:

This matchup features two teams that are far away from tournament contention. Wagner is 1-7 with its only win coming against VMI, perhaps the worst team in Division I. Manhattan, which enters the game at 2-8, is desperately seeking a victory to stop the bleeding. Due to Manhattan's edge in the goaltending matchup, I predict they will escape with a victory.  

Final Score: Manhattan 9, Wagner 5.

Marquette @ Notre Dame:

I would not want to play Notre Dame this week. Furthermore, I certainly would not want to play them if I was a first-year program. Coming off a devastating loss at the hands of Saint John's, Notre Dame will be looking for redemption as it hosts Midwest foe Marquette. Marquette is quite talented for a new team, but they will be no match for an angry and hungry Fighting Irish squad.

Notre Dame wins big, 15-5.

Providence @ Yale:

Providence won a close game at Rutgers last weekend, while Yale outlasted Penn by a goal as well. Yale is looking to improve their tournament chances and need to take advantage of this nonconference game. Brandon Mangan and the rest of the Yale offense should have no problem putting up points against the Friars.

Yale wins at home, 13-7.
