With the 17th Pick In the 2009 Draft, the Jets Select?

WordsWorth ReadingApr 19, 2009

Tick tock, tick tock, time is nearing closer to the 2009 NFL Draft. With predictions looming from reporters, analyst, and fans alike, teams scramble to brainstorm on prospective future Pro Bowlers.

Obviously, the Jets need to address a few positions, and at the same time try to satisfy a selfish player who should be grateful to be on a team (Thomas Jones).

But let us not get into Jones, let us emphasize on perhaps thinking of a master plan in moving up to select Michael Crabtree.

It is my belief that Crabtree will be a force to be reckoned with. From his highlights at Texas Tech, to his stats, it is a no brainer this guy should be on the Jets priority list.

Whatever it takes for the Jets to make this move, shall happen. This should make it a lot easier for the QB situation. Crabtree should be able to spread the field immensely, complimenting Cotchery, Keller, and Clowney.

Plus, it will allow for Jones and L. Washington to have another magnificent season.

Jeremy Maclin is definitely a top receiver, but to trade up for him, I'm not to sure if it's in the Jets best interest. Percy Harvin has the skills set to be dangerous for opposing teams, but in my opinion he seems to have a huge ego.

Darrius-Heyward-Bey can be an interesting alternative to Crabtree, he has speed, size, and nice hands to become an elite receiver in the league. So, at 17th, I would'nt mind landing him but, I'll rather do what it takes for Crabtree.

Mostly everybody has been savoring the idea of selecting Mark Sanchez if he happens to be available at 17. Yes his stock has been rising, yes he has all the intangibles of a starting QB, but he lacks experience and most say he would be gone within the top 10.

Aside from Crabtree and Aaron Curry, their isn't any other player that I feel the Jets should move up in the draft to select. In fact, if they don't make any moves for Crabtree, then perhaps they can trade down to gain additional picks.
