WWE Backlash: Remaining Match Card and Predictions
One week from today, WWE will be presenting it's post-wrestlemania pay-per-view: Backlash. Usually at Backlash, you witness the continuations or conclusions of several rivalries that were part of the biggest stories going into wrestlemania.
So far, there are four matches on the docket: The WWE, WHC, and ECW titles are all on the line, as well as the "I Quit" match featuring brothers Matt and Jeff Hardy. These matches all involve some already existing rivalries.
However, probably two more matches still need to be added to the card for Backlash and with the WWE draft shaking up the second-tier titles, what matches can they add in for Backlash?

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Anything now will be a last minute decision by the WWE. A women's title match? Melina has no current rival especially since she just moved to Smackdown. A diva's title match? Maryse just moved to Raw and no one on Smackdown (Gail Kim or Michelle McCool) can challenge her for her title anymore.
Maybe the IC title? Rey Mysterio was just drafted to Smackdown, JBL quit at wrestlemania and left the company so you can't expect a rematch, and Rey wasn't even on Smackdown this week.
Perhaps Mike Knox challenges him two days before Backlash? Mike Knox is really the only current rival he has on Smackdown but announcing that two days before Backlash is unlikely.
I'd like to see MVP defend the US title but he just moved to Raw and Shelton Benjamin already had his rematch, not to mention he is still on Smackdown. It would be interesting to see Mr. Kennedy return on Raw this Monday and challenge MVP for the US title, but I have read that Mr. Kennedy isn't returning until after Backlash.
The unified tag team champions Carlito and Primo don't have dancing partners for Backlash yet, but with John Morrision and the Miz broken up as a tag team and the lack of tag teams in the WWE, they probably aren't doing anything for Backlash.
So, who else do you think will be involved at Backlash? Other than the two matches I suggested, I have no idea and will be very interested to see what the WWE does.
As for my current thoughts on the existing match card for Backlash, I like Jeff Hardy getting a win over Matt Hardy to conclude their rivalry (Matt won the extreme rules and stretcher matches, so Jeff needs a win).
I like Christian to defeat Jack Swagger and win the ECW title, since Swagger won in their last title bout and Swagger has been rumored to have had a poor performance at No Way Out against Finlay.
In the WHC match, I like John Cena defeat Edge in the Last Man Standing match with CM Punk cashing in the Money in the Bank right after the match to become the WHC and bring the title to Smackdown, since Smackdown currently has no world title.
I wouldn't mind Edge winning, but winning a title four times in five months seems pretty ridiculous and they never give Edge a legitimate title reign. He is always a transitional champion. Plus, CM Punk cashed in the Money in the Bank privilege on him last June, so it is unlikely he would do that again.
As for the WWE title match, I think Randy Orton will win the title...EVENTUALLY. But not at Backlash. This six-man tag team business is not how I see the WWE title changing ownership. I think Batista will pin Randy Orton, and then Batista will want to get in on the WWE championship race.
Batista seems to always be in title matches, so it is plausible. I like a triple threat featuring Triple H vs. Batista vs. Randy Orton at Judgment Day, with Randy Orton finally winning the WWE title. I also think post-Backlash, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase will be unified tag team champions, so at Judgment Day, the Legacy will truly begin.
