Ryan Whitney
The 30-year-old Ryan Whitney got off to a slow start this season, but he has been rounding into form. With the Oilers in 13th place in the Western Conference, this makes the experienced defenseman a prime trade target.
TSN's Bob McKenzie lets us in that the Bruins are interested:
Meanwhile, CSNNE's Joe Haggerty is hearing the similar chatter:
Whitney has experience running the power play. This would be a needed and not overly expensive addition to the Bruins.
Jay Bouwmeester
Calgary defenseman Jay Bouwmeester is garnering plenty of interest.
Bouwmeester is in the last year of his contract, and with Calgary in 14th place in the Western Conference, he is a logical trade target.
Philadelphia, Detroit and Ottawa are all showing interest in the 29-year-old defenseman, according to Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, points out that Bouwmeester would be a good fit with the St. Louis Blues.
Calgary will try and get a bidding war going and milk this situation for all its worth.
Dan Boyle
San Jose’s Dan Boyle is another player to keep an eye on with the approaching deadline.
The 36-year-old is in the last year of his deal, and if the Sharks decide to be sellers, he'll likely be gone. However, CSNPhilly's Tim Panaccio reports that Boyle has a limited no-trade clause, which could make the deal a little tricky.
Panaccio brings this up because he also believes the Philadelphia Flyers are interested in Boyle.
This would be a solid acquisition to bolster a sinking Flyers defense. Boyle has slowed with age, but he is still a competent player.
