Nonito Donaire Destroys Martinez in a Flash Four Rounds!
IBF/IBO Flyweight Champion Nonito "FILIPINO FLASH" Donaire just destroyed undefeated Raul Martinez at the legendary "Thrilla in Manila" Araneta Colosseum in the Philippines in four brutal yet smart rounds.
The undefeated Martinez was a very hard solid opponent who was even gaining buzz about upsetting the weight drained champion, but from the opening bell it was evident that Donaire is a champion for one reason he is the MAN!
Martinez suffered two hard knockdowns in round one from the hands of Donaire:
10-7 DONAIRE
In round two Donaire floors Martinez again with a left hook: 10-8 DONAIRE
In round three Donaire was jabbing and throwing power combinations at will: 10-9 DONAIRE
In round four Donaire was out jabbing Martinez for the majority of this round then threw a monster left hook that floored Martinez again for the fourth and final time of this fight for the Ref had seen enough and waived off the fight.
Donaire had expressed in the post fight interview that he intends to move up in weight due to the hard time he had making weight for this fight.
Donaire improves his record to 21(14)- 1
Donaire had a lot to live up to with a great under card for this Pay Per View in which he headlined. Brian Viloria, the Hawaiian Punch won the IBF light flyweight champion belt from Ulises Solis in an entertaining all action fight that ended with Viloria knocking out Solis in the 11th round with a big right hand on the jaw of Solis.
Solis was down for minutes and did not get up from the canvas until Viloria was done with his post fight interview. Viloria was on the ropes doing his native hula dance in victory.
This was a great action packed Pay Per View that I felt should have been on HBO so that a wider audience could have experienced the greatness of these fighters showcased tonight.
