3 WWE Superstars Likely To Be Released By mid-May!
In 2008 we saw many WWE Superstars released from the company, and they did not just cut wrestlers either. Also on the list of cuts were referees, road agents, writers, and creative team members.
We saw people such as Bobby Lashley, Big Daddy V, and Ashley released last year along with over 40 others from the WWE. And 2009 will be no different, there are three Superstars who look to be released by Mid-May in the WWE.
DJ Gabriel, Curt Hawkins, and Jesse.

Now my take on this may surprise you, but I feel the only one here actually deserves to be released in Curt Hawkins. I have said it before and I will say it again, he bores me and he is hard to be creative with.
He shows nothing exciting in the ring and neither did Zack Ryder who just got drafted to ECW. He showed some promise in La Familia. But when Ryder and Hawkins won the Tag Team Titles they kind of looked awful.
You think it would be the reverse effect, as the tag team title helps boost a team usually. But once they won it, they really made no TV appearances what so ever.
When they did they lost to The Colons, Primo and Carlito one week. Then the next week they lost the SmackDown tag titles to them.
Since then we have not seen them wrestle on WWE TV. They made an appearance in the tag team lumberjack match for the Unified Tag Team Titles between Miz and Morrison and The Colons.
But that has been it for them.
Now they want to push Ryder? What does he have that Hawkins doesn't?
Both are good wrestlers, but show nothing exciting to me. They may actually grow on me if they actually got TV time WWE.
They looked to have a lot of promise on ECW before when they debuted as the Major Brothers a while back. Then they changed up the gimmick and teamed up with Edge. While it helped their career at the time, it eventually lead to nothing for their future.
So maybe you should let them team back up on ECW, the gimmick is killed. But you could still give them an opportunity there.
Maybe they can show me something, but until you give them TV time they will never do so WWE.
But if you refuse to let the fans see them, then release them. Plain and simple.
DJ Gabriel is a different case. He is a great physical specimen with a terrible gimmick. From what I have seen in the ring, he is a wonderful wrestler. Great European style that the WWE needs to have on the roster.
But the dancing gimmick is so stupid when you have many opportunities to go with here WWE.
With the departure of Alicia Fox to SmackDown in the supplemental draft, he does look to be released. But when is the last time she won a match? I'll tell you when, never. Not one time, and you push her to SmackDown?
Sure she is hot, but you have a great opportunity with Gabriel. Give him a better gimmick. The talent is there, heck look at his last singles match to see it.
Sure, it was a month ago. Big deal. But when he faced Tyson Kidd, it was arguably one of the better matches I have seen on ECW in a while.
He lost to Kidd, but both did terrific there.
If Gabriel is let go then the WWE has a serious complex. I said from day one the gimmick was horrible, but loved the in ring skill.
So if the WWE focuses on that, and not so much the crappy gimmick he will be a big star there on ECW. He has the size, skill, and talent to be one of the best. So if the WWE lets him go, expect TNA to try and pick him up.
I seem to remember one guy who had a terrible gimmick in the WWE and made his way to TNA by the name of Matt Morgan. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he is doing pretty well right now.
So it is possible to have a career out of the WWE's crappy gimmicks. Keep at it Gabriel, maybe the WWE will see what they are missing out on.
He is still young, so losing a guy like him is a bad thing for them right now. Especially with older stars retiring and the lack of wrestlers coming into the WWE that they actually know have a future there.
Jesse is one guy I have never fallen in love with, but actually like a bit. I feel he cannot be released because it not only kills him off, but Festus too.
Jesse is still on SmackDown, yet Festus was drafted to RAW. Now, from what I have noticed, Jesse has guided Festus to and from the ring. He has been there for him to make sure he is not taken advantage of too.
So you take him and put him on RAW, you kill all of that. Also the fans love to see them together. So it is not like he does not work for the audience or anything like that of Ryder and Hawkins for instance.
The gimmick Festus has must have Jesse to work, if they liked Festus they should have not given him a gimmick that would not work without Jesse.
That is creative's problem now, but if Jesse goes we may see Festus go too. Because the Festus character just does not work without Jesse plain and simple.
Just my opinion, maybe the WWE will think stuff like this over before just cutting talent. But if the WWE does release anyone, it will likely be by mid-May because the WWE will be releasing their next financial quarterly report by that time.
