Arsenal Transfer News: Tracking Latest Buzz Surrounding Potential Summer Moves

Dan TalintyreJun 8, 2018

With the summer transfer window approaching, big-name clubs like Arsenal continue to find themselves linked with a plethora of potential signings.

The Gunners have endured a frustrating season that has been seriously lacking in consistency. However, after last weekend's results, they now find themselves potentially just one point outside of the top four and subsequent 2014 Champions League qualification.

That could mean big things for the North London club, who would have much more money to spend in the transfer window than if they finished fifth.

Yet regardless of where they finish, the English giants are likely to be very active over the summer and could be looking to bring in any number of rumored players. Read on to see the latest buzz surrounding those players and their chances of joining the Gunners in 2013.

Nicolas N'koulou, DEF, Marseille

Cameroon international N'koulou has played down reports that he will be joining Arsenal over the summerโ€”telling reporters via Sky Sports that no deal has been done.

"

"Nothing is done with Arsenal," he said. "It is only paper talk. I like Arsenal as a fan of good football, but it does not mean I will join them.

"I will be able to talk about my future in the summer. I know the club want to balance their books and think I am an asset for them."

"

Theย ยฃ8 million rated defender has been very strong for the French club this year, and the 22-year-old has been linked to both Arsenal and Barcelona.

Michel Vorm, GK, Swansea City

The Metroย reports that Arsenal could be looking to Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm as their long-term goalkeeper. The media outlet says Arsene Wenger isn't happy with either of his two first-choice goalkeepers and is a big fan of the 29-year-old shot-stopper.

That speculation seems a little far-fetched, however, withย Wojciech Szczesny andย Lukasz Fabianski both world-class goalkeepers in their own right.ย Szczesny has been the No. 1 pick all season, whilst Fabianski excelled in his recent opportunity against Bayern Munich.

With Vito Mannone a third option for the North London club, it seems unlikely they would try and sign a third goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, regardless of how good Vorm has been for the Swans this year.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, ST, Saint-Etienne

Having tracked Saint-Etienne star strikerย Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for some time now, the Gunners are thought to be slipping behind in the race to sign the 23-year-old.

The Daily Mirrorย reports that the North Londoners are in a close fight with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Newcastle for his services, but an offer from big-spending French club Paris Saint-Germain could well see the striker stay in France.

The 23-year-old was quoted about a move to PSG.

"

"I am ready to join a top club," Aubameyang said.

"PSG? Of course an eventual offer would be really interesting, but I donโ€™t know if they are really tracking me. We will see.ย In any case it would be nice to play alongside [Zlatan] Ibrahimovich..."

"

Aubameyang has scored 17 goals this season and eight in his past eight games to take Saint-Etienne to just four points off second place in Ligue 1 this year.

The striker is currently rated at around ยฃ8 million (per Transfermarkt).

Who do you think Arsenal should sign over the summer transfer window?
