Florida Marlins: So Are The Braves Horrible Too?

Andrew RobesonApr 16, 2009

In their first series, the Marlins swept the Nationals.

No big deal said the baseball world. They are just the Nationals.

Then the Marlins took two out of three from the Mets.

Well the Mets are no Phillies. The Braves are better because they took two of three from the Phillies.

So whats the new argument going to be? The Braves are no good either?

For the first time in their history the Marlins swept the Braves at Turner Field. It was only the second time in their history they even won a series at Turner Field.

The Marlins not only beat the Braves, they won a game in which outcast Andrew Miller started against Braves ace Derek Lowe.

None of the games were within three runs. If you watched the series, the Marlins dominated the Braves at the plate and on the mound.

Even the Marlins bullpen looked solid over the three game series as they did not give up a run in over 9 innings of work.

While Emilio Bonifacio finally started to cool off, Cody Ross and Dan Uggla began to heat up. Meanwhile Jorge Cantu and Hanley Ramirez continued their strong starts to the year.

So where will the Marlins finish? It is really up to the rest of the division but do know that the Marlins are for real.

The Marlins still have six games left on the road in their season-long nine game roadtrip. Even if they manage only two or three more wins it will be a fairly successful road trip.

Heading into Washington the Marlins turn over the top of their rotation and look to add to the best start in franchise history.
