My Five Favorite and Five Most Despised Wrestlers Of All Time
My Five All Time Favorite Wrestlers
1. The Rock
From catch phrases to just pure entertainment, has there ever been a wrestler who just made you have to watch him while he is performing?
Has anyone ever done it with the pure style of The Rock?
I'm instantly reminded of the time he did the people's elbow on SmackDown while wearing nonwrestling attire—instead of throwing an elbow pad to the fans it was his glasses—instead of trying to walk up on his victim for the elbow the way in which he slid.
It was an amazing moment and just a slight reminder of who he was. Everything in which he did...he had to make it look better than anyone ever who did it before him including the signature eye brow...correction the people's eye brow.
The only downside to The Rock was the fact that wrestling lost him to Hollywood and hasn't been the same since.
2. Sting
The true face of what WCW should have been.
Like The Rock, when Sting talks everyone listens and while he never had quite the charisma of The Rock (no one does) everything this man did and personified was everything that was right in wrestling.
No one has ever looked cooler as a wrestler from the black and white, to the trenchcoat and the baseball bat swinging from the raptures. When he showed up it truely would get you on the edge of your seat because something big was about to happen. This guy was the reason that WCW almost was showtime, folks. He is easily the greatest wrestler to never wrestle in the WWE.
3. Stone Cold
The guy who changed everything and made wrestling worth watching and it had nothing to due with what he did in the ring. I think he was the first wrestler to truly take the wrestling buisness to a level which it may never see again.
Stone Cold is—to me—the Michael Jordan of wrestling.
Just like basketball hasn't been the same since he left...neither has wrestling. Stone Cold took the WWE to heights it had never seen and unmatched popularity. To truly understand how great Stone Cold was think about this...people got tired of seeing Hulk Hogan and Rick Flair wrestle back in the mid-90s and most would tell you they would never want to see them wrestle again. Now, name one time you ever said you were sick of Stone Cold....
4. HBK
Maybe a reach considering considering his predessors, but I don't think so. This guy has been around the block and has been the cornerstone for some of the greatest moments in WWE history. He was in the first Ironman match and Ladder match, and he was the one who jump started Stone Cold with their WrestleMania showdown.
He was the man who created DX, he retired Ric Flair(thank god). This man is nothing short of a legend and a true entertainer.
5. Divas
Trish Status, Stacey Keibler, Sable, Torrie Wilson etc.
Five Wrestlers I will Always Despise
1. Goldberg
A character created by WCW to compete against the WWE's Stone Cold Steve Austin; and while I thought it could have been a great idea...as usual I believe WCW blew it by making him basically Superman without kryptonite.
I thought his indestructible persona took away from some of the wrestlers that WCW already had like Sting and made fans adopt him. Just to give you an idea of how badly this went over with me, watch when Sting was with the wolfpack. Yes, a bad Sting whose character at the time was a heel almost beat Goldberg fair and square. Yet a mere couple months later Goldberg couldn't be touched—not even by Sting once he had returned back to Black and White as one of the sole protectors of WCW.
2. Hulk Hogan
The ego behind this guy makes me hate him the most.
Yes, he is one of the greatest, but his unwillingness to accept defeat in the later stages of his career makes me hate him the most.
Take the 97 Starcade match against Sting...or the supposed best ever match against The Rock where, ye,s he lost but at the same time at both points in their careers the Rock was about as good as he was ever going to be and Hulk Hogan was about as old as he was going to get.
3. HHH
When did this guy supposedly become the game? At one point he was Shawn Michaels second hand man in DX, then maybe second in the Ministry of Darkness, then he became a headliner if he was up against The Rock or Stone Cold and then all of a sudden he becomes one of the best ever overnight...hmm...
4. Ric Flair
Another guy who held on way too long, but unlike Hogan was at least willing to go down later on in his career when it was obvious that in a reasonable world where guys half his age would beat him...actually beat him.
5. Chyna
And all the other hideous divas.
