Top 10 Must-Miss Games of the 2009 NFL Season

RhinoApr 15, 2009

The National Football League dropped the 2009 game schedule on a well-prepared sporting public on Tuesday.

In response to said development, sports writers around the country about-faced with their own "games to watch" lists.

However, we're rolling to a different beat here at Greatest Pro Bowls of all time and other stuff and doing a public service in the process by unveiling our list of "top 10 must-miss" games of the 2009 NFL season.

Don't forget to forget to set your TiVo and/or DVR for...

Chargers at Raiders, Week 1

Sure, it's a primetime showdown, but don't be fooled by the predictable ESPN pregame hyperbole. The Chargers should work the Raiders.

In two of the previous three seasons, the backend of a Monday night doubleheader has "featured" the Raiders, who have lost both contents in humiliating fashion by a combined score of 68-14.

Rams at Lions, Week 8

These two finished a combined 2-30 last season. Let that sink in.

2-30!

2-30...2-30...2-30...2-30...2-30.

Chiefs at Raiders, Week 10

The Chiefs might be a popular worst-to-first pick in the AFC West this summer, but by Week 10 we'll all know those expectations were just a tad bit lofty.

Bengals at Raiders, Week 11

Maybe by this time, Jeff Garcia will have finally displaced JaMarcus Russell, thus predictably sending the former No. 1 overall pick to the depths of "draft bust" status.

Jaguars at 49ers, Week 12

Nothing screams "don't watch this" like an inter-conference matchup between two mediocre teams. A few weeks later, Jacksonville fans may be pushing for this team to leave town and head to Los Angeles.

Lions at Bengals, Week 13

The formula is simple: Bad AFC team + bad NFC team = bad game.

More simply, BAFC+BNFC=BG.

Texans at Rams, Week 15

Potential question to ask a fellow football fan friend on Sunday, Dec. 20:

"True or false: The Texans played the Rams in a game of football today."

Chiefs at Bengals, Week 16

The only excitement here might be the battle over draft positioning.

Steelers at Dolphins, Week 17

Featuring the league's most difficult schedule (based on last year's W-L results) the Dolphins will be hard-pressed to match their magic of 2008. By Week 17 of this season, they could be well out of the playoff race, and the Steelers could be fielding a JV team in the season finale to rest starters in preparation for another title run.

49ers at Rams, Week 17

A good number of NFL teams could be playing for postseason seeding in the season's final week. These two clubs are likely not going to be among them.
