Ohio State Battling Alabama and Clemson for 5-Star LB Raekwon McMillan

David RegimbalMay 31, 2018

Inside linebacker Raekwon McMillan, the 5-star prospect out of Hinesville, Ga., boasts more than 50 scholarship offers from schools around the country.

Elite programs like USC, Florida, Texas, Notre Dame and in-state Georgia have all tossed their hats in the ring for the soon-to-be senior linebacker.

Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney—three of the best recruiters in college football—are headlining the battle.

The Buckeyes are fresh off of signing the No. 2 recruiting class in the country (via 247Sports.com) that featured a pair of 4-star linebackers in Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson. That isn't stopping Meyer from going after a number of 2014 linebackers, highlighted by McMillan.

Ohio State has led the way for much of McMillan's recruitment, but southern suitors Alabama and Clemson are hot on the Buckeyes' trail for the talented linebacker.

That's why McMillian's upcoming visit is so important.

According to Brad Bournival of ESPN.com, McMillan will be traveling north to visit Ohio State on April 1.

McMillan has visited Columbus a number of times and was on the sidelines for Ohio State's 26-21 victory over Michigan last November. This upcoming trip will allow McMillan, who tallied 150 tackles (22 for loss) during his junior season, to get an inside look at the Buckeyes as they go through spring practice.

If Meyer ends up landing McMillan, this visit will be a big factor. He will announce his decision on January 4, 2014 at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McMillan feels extremely comfortable in Columbus, saying, “Even though Ohio State is far away, they still make me feel like home.”
