We'll give an overview of some of the best plays by draft-eligible players and discuss what those players might be like in the NHL.
Read on to find out.
Seth Jones
1 of 5Seth Jones is one of the top prospects in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and this play shows why.
The 6'4", 206-pound defenseman plays for the Portland Nighthawks of the WHL and is putting up huge numbers. He has 12 goals and 40 assists in only 57 games. He's a remarkable plus-41.
Jones has the requisite size to be a shutdown defenseman but the speed and agility to be a factor on offense.
This play, where he goes coast to coast and looks like a man among boys, shows what he can do. He has the strength to bully pass defenders, as well as the speed and puck-handling ability to finish.
Jones could end up being the No.1 overall pick in the draft and projects as a two-way defenseman who will shut down opposing players, as well as put up big offensive numbers.
Think Drew Doughty with more defensive discipline.
Nathan MacKinnon
2 of 5Nathan MacKinnon projects as a first-line, big-time goal scorer in the NHL.
Playing for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, the 5'11" MacKinnon has scored 28 goals and has 41 assists in just 41 games.
This goal was tremendous for a number of reasons. Not only does he has the slick stickhandling, but he has the concentration to stick with the play.
MacKinnon is a candidate for the top pick and will be selected in the top five. He is a big-time goal scorer and will do so at the next level.
Jonathan Drouin
3 of 5Jonathan Drouin may be the best pure goal scorer in this draft class.
He has incredible quickness and has shown a lot of creativity.
The left winger has 39 goals and 59 assists in only 45 games for the Halifax Mooseheads. He projects as a top-line goal scorer who will be absolutely lethal on the power play.
He won't be much of an asset on defense, but Drouin has the potential to score 40-plus goals.
A sure-fire top-five pick, Drouin showed on this goal the kind of speed and creativity he will bring into the NHL.
Aleksander Barkov
4 of 5Aleksandr Barkov has incredible skill, as evidenced by the absolutely ridiculous goal above.
The 17-year-old forward has 21 goals and 26 assists in 51 games for Tappara in the Finnish SM-Liga, where he plays against men.
The goal above is just insane. The incredible stickwork shown to bring the puck back while going at full speed is remarkable.
Barkov is young, but he might have the most upside of anyone in this draft class. Look for him to do big things.
Hunter Shinkaruk
5 of 5Hunter Shinkaruk has tremendous skill and projects as a top goal-scorer in the NHL.
The 5'11" center has 33 goals and 42 assists in 59 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL.
The goal above shows what he can do. He has tremendous speed and incredibly quick hands.
Like Drouin, he's not much of a defensive player, but has the ability to change games with his speed.
Look for Shinkaruk to be selected in the top 10 and make an immediate impact in the NHL.
