Bayern—Barça: Time To Seal the Deal or To Save A Team's Dignity?

Josep Vernet-RieraApr 13, 2009

Tomorrow is another big match day for football fans.

Barcelona will visit the Allianz Arena, and for those of you who guess that Barça will bring their subs on to the pitch are wrong.

Although the ticket to the semis is pretty much guaranteed, Barça will not give its top stars a rest.

Messi & Co. will all be playing at the Allianz Arena for what look likes to be more of an obligation than actually a challenge for Barça's players.

Nevertheless, Bayern will certainly play their hearts out. Lúcio and Lahm will be back, which means that the magical triangle Messi-Eto'o-Henry will have a nice challenge.

Last weekend the "Rekordmeister" destroyed Eintracht Frankfurt with a staggering performance that softened the heavy discussion around Klinsmann.

Will the hype stretch until the big clash against the "Culers?"

The Bavarian side was heavily criticized after their humiliation at Camp Nou.

The former German ace Netzer chose Klinsi as a target and he did not soften a single word.

On his column for the well-known "Bild am Sonntag", Nezter said that Klinsi was arrogant and that he was clearly overrated.

According to him, Klinsi had not achieved anything. He was clearly incapable of motivating the team and of elevating the team's fitness, which for Netzer was pretty clear after the Bavarian's humiliation against Wolfsburg.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Franz Beckenbauer were stunned by Bayern's performance. Nevertheless, Beckenbauer said that he did not want to blame Klinsi (would that have something to do with him being the responsible for bringing Klinsi to Munich?).

Now Bayern will try to clean its name after that what the German newspaper Kicker called "Bayern dismantled."

Klinsmann said that he was well aware, that his side would not be able to turn this match-up around.

The former striker stated that he wants his team to walk out with its chin up (with a nice victory).

The big doubt, is how Bayern's players will react to this next match-up.

Barça is certainly on a roll after yet another victory in the league and this match will certainly be great a test run for a semifinal game.
