Alfonso Soriano Becomes the 19th Player To Join the 250/250 Club

Chris GilmoreApr 13, 2009

Alfonso Soriano has hit over 30 home runs and stolen 30 bases in four of his big league seasons. In his lone year with the Washington Nationals he joined Jose Canseco and Alex Rodriguez in the 40/40 club.

Sunday he joined an equally impressive, albeit less exclusive, list in the 250/250 club as its 19th member.ย

This club includes hall of famers Willie Mays, Robin Yount, Joe Morgan, and Ryne Sandberg.ย  It also includes some marginal players like Bobby Bonds, Steve Finley, and Kirk Gibson. Bobby Abreu and Mike Cameron are the next two active players likely to join Soriano and company.

The feat took Soriano 11 seasons to accomplish. As his playing days wind down there will undoubtably be more milestones for Soriano. He has probably stolen most of his bases, as he should slow down as he gets older.
