Mississippi 50 Trail Run Results 2013: Men and Women's Top Finishers

Justin OnslowJun 4, 2018

The Carl Touchstone Memorial Mississippi Trail 50 is a test of physical endurance and mental toughness. Finishing a 20-kilometer, 50-kilometer or 50-mile run is no easy task, and this year’s participants set out to prove they could overcome the challenge.

The Mississippi 50 is an annual ultra-running event staged in Laurel, Miss., named in honor of the man who moved the trail run from Leland, Miss. in 1996. This year's race was the 12th to commemorate Touchstone's "untimely death due to cancer" (per MS50.com).

The race follows two loops of the Longleaf Horse Trail in De Soto National Forest. Fifty-mile participants completed the 12.5-mile loop three times and the smaller loop twice, while 50-kilometer runners completed each loop twice. Twenty-kilometer runners completed the big loop once (shown below).

A total of 349 participants from 25 states took part in the event, with the largest portion of ultra runners (154) signing up for the 50-mile run. Runners were allowed to switch races during the event, but any runners who did so weren’t eligible for a trophy.

Let’s take a look at the top finishers for each race.
