UFC on Fuel 8: Round-by-Round Recap for Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve

UFC on Fuel TV 8 will feature a co-main event to be contested by a pair of streaking heavyweight competitors, Stefan Struve and Mark Hunt. Struve enters the contest riding four consecutive wins, Hunt three. 

The pairing is made all the more intriguing by the physical juxtaposition of the two competitors, Hunt standing 5'10", Struve a massive 7'0''.

Round 1

The fighters touch gloves and we are underway.

Struve begins with a few kicks, but is socked early by Hunt. Hunt pressing forward landing leg-kicks and short punches. Struve answers with a leg-kick of his own.

Hunt works the body with a right, then the fighters exchange jabs. A clinch in the middle sees Struve taken down by Hunt. Struve seemed pretty willing to drop to his guard. Looking for an arm-bar now, Struve moves to butterfly guard.

A beautiful sweep lands Struve in the mount, but Hunt gets back to half-guard. Struve hunting for an arm-triangle now, but Hunt figures it out. Struve gets to mount though and is wailing away. He takes Hunt's back and is looking for an arm-bar.

He loses it and Hunt is back on top. Struve gets the butterflies in again, but Hunt lands a solid right. Struve throws his legs up, but Hunt lands another shot. Struve lands a nice right from the bottom, but Hunt gets to side-control. 

Score: 10-9 Struve

Round 2

Hunt opens the second with a leaping left hook that connects. He follows up with a couple more punches that land. Struve returns fire with a jab. And another. But Hunt keeps lunging in and hitting.

Hunt lands some more shots and Struve is looking lethargic. He whips a casual body kick that Hunt ignores. A big right from Struve sends Hunt back, but he comes right back and works the body of the Dutchman.

Hunt sweeps Struve to the mat and goes into the bigger fighter's guard. Struve sweeps and goes for a foot-lock. He nearly parlays the attempt into taking Hunt's back, but Hunt rolls back on top. Struve looking for an arm, but Hunt defends and once again passes Struve's guard. Side-control now.

Struve gets up and immediately take Hunt down and moves straight to mount. He's pummeling away. He goes for an arm-bar but forgets to take the arm with him—that was odd.

The round ends with hunt in Struve's guard.

Score: 10-9 Hunt

Round 3

Struve opens with a jab that Hunt responds to with a massive left. Struve is hurt, but he stays up and throws a leg-kick. Hunt is totally ignoring Struve's punches and just teeing up.

A head-kick lands for Struve, but Hunt brushes it off. Both guys are tired, but Hunt is still coming forward. He drops Struve with a massive left, and collapses Struve.

That does it, folks. A knockout win for Mark Hunt.
