Two New Champions Crowned at Extreme Beatdown

San Carlos, AZ – On a night where two new SNMMA champions were crowned, only three fights made it out of the first round, and only one went to decision.
Beau Tribolet (2-1) was a last minute replacement for the SNMMA Super Heavyweight Championship, and was outweighed by opponent Brice Ritani-Coe (2-1) by 85 pounds, but used his speed on the ground to secure a rear naked choke early in the first round, claiming victory and the title.
The night also saw featherweight Jamie “The Headhunter” Schmidt (8-2) submit Yaotzin Meza (11-5) in the first round to win the SNMMA Featherweight Title. Brock Lesnar was in attendance to corner sparring partner and SNMMA Heavyweight Champion Chris Tuchscherer (17-1), and watched as Tuchscherer handed Jamie Klair (7-1) his first professional loss in a non-title bout.
Arizona Combat Sports fighter Elena “Baby Doll” Reid met Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson in a special 112 pound catch-weight contest. Reid emerged victorious via a second round TKO, capping off a five-win night for AZ Combat.
Heavyweight – Seth Harrison (2-1) vs. Jason Karpel (2-0)
Round 1 - Karpel took this fight on short notice, but shows no ring rust once the bell rung. Karpel clinches early Harrison, utilizing knees in the clinch before securing a single leg takedown and moving to side mount.
From there, Karpel works to back mount, where he secures a rear naked choke, forcing Harrison to submit.
Final – Karpel (2-1) def. Harrison (2-2) via rear naked choke at 1:30 of round 1.
Lightweight – Chris Gruetzemacher (0-2) vs. Josh Gaskins (4-1)
Round 1 – Gaskins attempts an early takedown, which is stuffed by Gruetzemacher. Gaskins works his opponent up against the fence, and takes Gruetzemacher down with a suplex.
Gaskins takes back mount, but Gruetzemacher works back to his feet. Gaskins maintains position while standing, and is able to take Gruetzemacher down again. A scramble ensues, and Gruetzemacher lands knees to the body from the clinch. Gruetzemacher attempts a guillotine and Gaskins takes him down, but Gaskins pops his head out.

Round 2 – Round two stars the same way, with Gaskins working to the clinch and looking for the takedown. He is able to take Gruetzemacher down twice, with a sag and with an inside trip, but is not able to hold Gruetzemacher down.
Gruetzemacher starts to do damage in the clinch, landing knees and punches to the body. Gruetzemacher lands a hard punch that stuns Gaskins, but Gaskins is able to clinch and secure a takedown as the round ends.

Round 3 – Gruetzemacher comes out with two round kicks, but Gaskins is able to clinch and take him to the ground. Gruetzemacher works back up and lands hard knees. Gaskins takes Gruetzemacher down, and Gruetzemacher applies a guillotine, but loses it. Gruetzemacher is able to work his way up, but Gaskins keeps the clinch tight.
Eventually the referee breaks the fighters up, and Gruetzemacher lands a big punch. Gaskins is able to clinch, and they are again separated by the ref. Gruetzemacher comes out with a flurry, and lands some big knees and punches from the clinch.

Final – Chris Gruetzemacher (1-2) def. Josh Gaskins (4-2) via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)
Middleweight – Jeremy Larsen (3-1) vs. Jeff Horlatcher (6-16)
Round 1 – Larsen lands a big double leg against the fence and lands in Horlatcher’s guard. Larsen lands short elbows, stacks Horlatcher, and spins to side ride. Larsen throws big knees and elbows to Horlatcher’s body.
Horlatcher is able to stand, but Larsen takes him down again and secures back mount. Larsen flattens Horlatcher out and lands big punches, then secures a rear naked choke, forcing Horlatcher to submit.
Final – Larsen (4-1) def. Horlatcher (6-17) via rear naked choke at 4:44 of round 1
Light Heavyweight – Shane De Zee (7-3) vs. Jesse “Kid Hercules” Forbes (8-3)
Round 1 – Forbes stuffs two takedown attempts by De Zee, and lands in De Zee’s half guard. De Zee reestablishes guard, but Forbes passes and takes back mount. Forbes lands huge punches from back mount, forcing De Zee to submit.
Final – Forbes (9-3) def. De Zee (7-4) via tapout due to punches at 1:34 of round 1
Middleweight – Chris Hugh (6-2) vs. Ray “C4” Steinbeiss (11-5)
Round 1 – Steinbeiss takes Hugh down with a double leg, and lands in guard. Steinbeiss passes to side mount, transitions to mount, and then back to side mount. Steinbeiss secures a reverse triangle choke from side mount, forcing Hugh to submit.
Final – Steinbeiss (12-5) def. Hugh (6-3) via reverse triangle at 2:19 of round 1
Bantamweight – Brandon Miller (3-3) vs. Jesse “Arturo” Moreng (8-1)
Round 1 – Miller lands a body kick and attempts a takedown, but is stuffed. Moreng scrambles to guard and stands. Moreng lands punches from standing guard, then lets Miller stand. Miller lands another body kick, but Moreng clinches and lands a takedown. Moreng lands punches, and passes to side mount at the round ends.

Round 2 – Moreng lands a big right punch, knocking Miller to the floor. Moreng jumps on top and lands unanswered punches, forcing the fight to be stopped.
Final – Moreng (9-1) def. Miller (3-4) via TKO at 0:20 of round 2
Heavyweight – Jamie Klair (7-0) vs. Chris Tuchscherer (16-1)
Round 1 – Both fighters engage in the clinch. Tuchscherer secures the takedown and lands in half guard. Tuchscherer passes to side mount, then to mount. Tuchscherer lands heavy punches from the mount, forcing the fight to be stopped.
Final – Tuchscherer (17-1) def. Klair (7-1) via TKO at 1:50 of round 1
Female 112 lb Catch-weight – Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson (7-2) vs. Elena “Baby Doll” Reid (2-0)
Round 1 – Waterson uses front kicks and round kicks to keep Reid at distance. Reid closes the back, and both fighters dirty box. Reid lands several big punches in the round, and knocks Waterson down, but Waterson is able to recover.

Round 2 – Reid lands several clean punches, sending Waterson to the ground. Reid follows up with unanswered punches to her downed opponent, forcing the fight to be stopped.
Final – Reid (3-0) def. Waterson (7-3) via TKO at 1:50 of round 2
SNMMA Super Heavyweight Championship – Brice Ritani-Coe (2-0) vs. Beau Tribolet (1-1)
Round 1 – Ritani-Coe looks to press the action, forcing Tribolet to back-peddle. Ritani-Coe lands several left hooks, and Tribolet sticks and moves. Tribolet shoots a single leg, but Ritani-Coe sprawls.
Tribolet is able to finish the takedown, move to back mount, and secure a rear naked choke. Tribolet cannot finish the choke, and moves to mount, then side mount, and secures back mount again. Tribolet secures a rear naked choke, forcing Ritani-Coe to submit.
Final – Tribolet (2-1) def. Ritani-Coe (2-1) via rear naked choke at 4:02 of round 1 to win the SNMMA Super Heavyweight Title
SNMMA Featherweight Championship – Jamie “The Headhunter” Schmidt (7-2) vs. Yaotzin Meza (11-4)
Round 1 – Meza lands a huge double leg, but Schmidt scrambles to the feet. Schmidt kicks high, and Meza catches the kick and takes Schmidt down. Meza lands in a triangle, and Schmidt secures an arm bar, forcing Meza to submit.
Final – Schmidt (7-2) def. Meza (11-5) via arm bar at 1:59 of round 1 to win the SNMMA Featherweight Title
