King J Gives HBO 24/7 Hatton vs. Pacquiao Episode 1 Grade Of: B
As I stated a few times already that the HBO 24/7 series is great at many things. It is great at capturing one's attention and convincing them to shell out that $60 for that much anticipated Pay Per View that it is promoting.
At the same time however it has also been known to mislead one to believe that a certain fighter is training harder than they actually are, or that a fighter has a great chance of winning when they do not.
Thankfully so far, HBO 24/7 is not guilty of the latter......yet.
This first episode was more so an introductory episode again reminding us that Manny Pacquiao came from the slums of the Philippines. I loved the fact that they actually showed his crib this time back home for the first time.
We saw his body guards standing in front of Pacquiao palace armed with automatic machine guns which was very Scarface-like.
We also finally get to see Pacquiao's Scarface-like mansion and it was amazing that such a beautiful pimped out crib is in his old hometown slum neighborhood much like how MC Hammer had that ridiculous mansion up on top of the hills of his rough Oakland hometown.
Hopefully, Pacquiao never ends up like Hammer for they both are known to give away a lot of money to a lot of freeloaders.
We see where Hatton is from back in England and we hear what his parents have to say about his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. We also learn how Hatton disses and leaves his life long trainer Billy Graham for his new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Mayweather has to retrain and teach Hatton how to be more defensive and how to counter punch and control his strength and aggression.
We unfortunately have to see Hatton strip down to a thong for Hatton feels it is funny. If you thought Hatton's face and torso was pasty white imagine how white his butt cheeks are.
Just as repulsive as Hatton in a thong; we also have to hear Mayweather senior recite his cheezy poems dissing Pacquiao and I am sure eventually will diss his rival trainer Freddie Roach as well.
New additions to Pacquiao's camp include the new assistant trainer former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer who seems to be adding helpful advice to the team.
We see both Hatton and Pacquiao do pad work and hit the heavy bag. It seems Pacquiao is more faster and had more conviction on his punches.
We also get to see the amazing sparring of Pacquiao battering his bigger sparring partners.
HBO 24/7 did a good job with this first episode in capturing our attention and interests for this Pay Per View fight. I will be attending this fight May 2 and cannot wait for this fight to happen.
Lets hope the next episodes live up to the past critically acclaimed episodes of the HBO 24/7 series.
KING J gives this first episode a grade of a solid: B
