Warriors-Jazz: CJ Watson Outplays Deron Williams

Maybe C.J. Watson was listening to the media reports that coming into the 2009 NBA draft the Golden State Warriors are entertaining the idea of drafting a point guard. Well, if Watson has anything to say just look at his performance against Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz.

Watson finished the game with 38 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, shot 10-16 from the field, 2-4 from beyond the arc, and hit all 16 free throws. With his 30 point game Watson became the seventh player for the Warriors to score at least 30 points in a game.

The Warriors also got another surprising effort for a player more than likely not to be resigned even though he fits the mold of a player that Don Nelson. Rob Kurz added 21 points and pitched in with five rebounds and three assists.

Even though the Warriors were coming off a tough loss to the Houston Rockets. They seemed like the fresher team constantly going after loose balls and getting tough offensive rebounds.

Ronny Turiaf contributed defensively with five blocked shots along with Andris Biedrins and Kelenna Azubuike had two blocks as well.

Even more encouraging for the Warriors on their quest to at least get 30 wins this season is that the defense of the Warriors held the Jazz to 42 percent shooting and the Warriors only had seven players playing.

Anthony Randolph continues to play well contributing 11 points and 8 rebounds and also had a great play just at the end of the third quarter.

As Randolph was driving for a layup attempt he spotted Andris Biedrins for a much easier attempt just as the horn sounded.

The Warriors as a team shot 55 percent from the floor, 45 percent from three, and 78 percent from the line.
